I know I spoke with you guys about our adding a guitarist at the end of the year.
And about our shaky moments where it seemed we might just fall apart altogether as a band.

Just wanted to report how things have been progressing.

Jax ( the new axe man ) and myself are really beginning to jell as a team and being able to play off each others strengths and weakness.

He has told me that I have been helpful in helping him adopt a new style.
He even told me respected me as a guitar player which really took me back some as a fact I'm just not that good.
He's young ( just turned 21 ) with a good musical back ground. Swapping instrument with our bassist at times allowing Eric to play on his 12 string acoustic.
I have also assumed more of the rhythm aspects of some of our songs. Partly due to the awesome tones I have been getting out of my new ES-339 / VT-16. Enabling us to rescue some of our older tunes from the dusty books.
I'm jazzed. Not only for the positive changes I see working in NKF but also because I've been invited to play as a guest guitarist with Jax, Steve & Eric at some " praise & worship" functions outside NKF.
This is way outside my comfort zone, and pushing me to practice more.

Scary man ... but I like it.

George, You have to get out every once in a while! By that I mean your comfort zone is like being at home, if you get out you will grow as a musician!
I prefer to take myself out of my comfort zone as often as possible! It can be a very surreal experience because just when you think you can't do it. In that moment you loosen up and you GROW in ways you never thought you would! Don't worry you'll be fine! Trust me! :D

George, Ive always found stepping out of my comfort zone musically to help me improve as a musician.

Ive done praise music, christian rock, bluegrass gospel, jazz, added guitar parts to rap type music, acoustic music, solo acoustic and singing, and whenever I get a chance I sing karaoke.

At heart Im a hard rock guitarist, plain and simple and thats the area that I think I do best at, but all these other things have helped me grow musically.

Have fun and enjoy the ride, step outside of your box now and then and you will become a much more complete musician.

Scary is good...it lets you know you're alive.

Jax the Axe man! That's the coolest name since "Slash"! Even that line I just wrote sounds like an opening line!
