Eric Johnson will be at the Magic Bag, a place not much bigger than a bar. I saw him on the Experience Hendrix tour, he's great.

Rammstein www.youtube.com/artist/Rammstein in May at the Palace. They haven't been to the states in 10 years, I am so going to that.

What concerts do you plan on attending?

Jimmy me and my drummer saw Eric Johnson at BB Kings down on Beale street a few years ago, yeah I got slammed in the face with is Marshall about 20 ft away.

My son loves Rammstein, they actually played out west last spring cause I almost took my son to Vegas to see them.

The Chilli Peppers are coming to Memphis, but they sold out in like 3 hours, so I dont guess I will dig that deep in my pockets to go see them, when I was in college they came to a local punk club in Memphis called the Antenna, you would have loved that place Jim, and the Farleys would have fit right into that scene. I hate I didnt go see them there, I think REM played there also around that time.

Dont know who I will go see this year, I do try to catch folks in the bigger clubs, I missed Ted Nugent a few monthes back he played this place weve played a few times, saw Trower there a couple of times.

I loved Eric Johnson before he started singing....

I had a booking agency in the late 70s and we hired him to play at Lamar University in Beaumont TX before anyone had heard of him. What I remember most was that he was vegetarian, believed God was found in sound waves, and wouldn't touch the really really hot chick we tried to set him up with....but he was fantastic on that guitar and I followed his career for decades.

In 1983, I had a guitar shop in the Dallas area and he came walking in wanting to trade a couple Vox teardrop guitars for a '59 Strat belonging to my partner. I think he still plays that guitar? Back then he did a cool jazz-rock fusion kind of thing. But the last time I saw him (couple years ago) he was singing??????? What's up with that? Does anyone go to hear him sing, really??? It just cut down on how much lead guitar he played and I wasn't impressed with his voice or songs anymore.

When it comes to concerts, I really prefer listening to local bands who are still hungry. I like discovering unknown groups, or authentic ethnic music.
I'll go hear someone famous if I get a free ticket or they just happen to be playing where I'm at for the moment. But I haven't purchased a ticket for a concert since Trapeze came to Dallas in the mid-90s. The last arena concert I saw was Yes in 1991.

I don't know if this really counts but I'm taking my daughter to see a simulcast show of the Goat Rodeo sessions January 31st. The concert event will be broadcast LIVE from the House of Blues Boston and is being shown at Movie theatres all over the country.

You probably should bring your guitar and try to slip in a shameless plug... for the silver screen there ;)
