ACM Records, Inc. has serviced the Entertainment Industry for over 20 years. They have worked for some of the top names in the business including Viacom, Paramount, Atlantic Records, Universal Records, Sony, PolyGram, Warner Brothers and MCI WorlCom. ACM has an extensive Music Library and Song Catal...

I was scammed by these (could only consist of 1 to 3 people tops) people and I am warning others out here so they do not fall prey to the same scenario. They claim they can place your music in Tv shows and many notable movies, but will not or can not deliver. Then when you have signed over 50% of your rights for no advance  they will begin selling your music everywhere-try to make contact at that point and your emails will bounce back and your phone calls not returned. Now at least ill get my 50% right- try getting a quarterly out of a label who won't reply !! Do Not- make the same STUPID mistake i did. I looked around on the net and ASSUMED thewy were ligit because they "looked" to be and the negative feedbacks did not show up. Now I am on the other side and i hear handfulls of the same "bad" deals hapened to many others. learn from this- i wish i could go back and un do, lawyers cost money, now im out my ownership of my own music and recordings I paid for! with blood sweat and hard earned money until i get the means to hire the right lawyer!

If its any consolation, You should sell the same work to the next (Legitimate) bidder . I'd like to see those skanky con-ass mother-fuckers try and claim money on the work then. Instead they will just stay hidden underneath their rocks, eating sh*t all day)

Having Said that...

I always contend on any business deal...the first and absolute must is that there is physical evidence of that person...(So you can look em in the eye). When big deals go down, people are known to travel...to meet the other guy...

In the case of music, If I am ever approached, they would need to be physically present, with a check in hand...and that check would need to clear first... Additionally...don't it make sense to expect to be convinced with a compelling reason as to why they singled you out? Stuff like... "Your music resonates so well with our audiences that we are willing to pay you in advance to secure your commitment to our event/show/etc." These are solid cues to go by...

The real agents have scouts out there look for people who set the house on fire... They are not looking for anything less (Except where they will Hire a body to fill a gap at some road house) . When they hear that you are blasting the roof tops of the clubs,,they will not waste any time contacting you, and telling Specifically WHY they NEED you.

So consider this

WHO (is courting you)
WHY (do they want your work...Are you really that good? Is it really about time for y our lucky break?)
WHERE (are you supposed to be to promote your work)
HOW (much advance are they giving you)
WHEN (does it start and when does it end...Everything has an end game)

If those f**k cant answer any of this, then tell em to eat sh*t and die...

thanks for the feedback paperdog- i should have done all of these things, but hindsight is a bitch. I plan to get the word out though, so other artists know these guys are NOT a ligit label, i looked and didnt find so i hope someone else might learn from my stupid mistake. :!:
