My 2nd Open Mic

It was a resounding success...

One of the coordinators asked me if he could feature me in an upcoming event...AND one of the poets there asked me to back him (with guitar music in the back ground) later that evening.. I did ...and folks loved it... He loved it...everybody loved it.

downside...Not a single one of my friends or family came tio see it... Thus, I have no videos... (That I am aware of)

:(

Right on Paperdog, I have total respect for
anyone who will get out and play there own
music in front of a crowd.

I use a tripod when we video, just record
the whole thing, then edit at your computer.
Of course I need help on the how tos of
editing.

Invite more family and friends next time.

Kudos

Fortunately we have Ray to do our tech stuff. I'm sure he has hours & hours of video on us doing practice and live shows.
Filming, doing adds and stuff is one of his passions.

All too often video shot by family / friends is of such poor quality it's hardly worth editing.

The local college in your area is bound to have at least one zealot in their media program ?

P.S.
I cannot wrap my head around why so many people post crappy i phone footage on Youtube. Sometimes you get some well recorded stuff like what Jeff posted recently. More often not it is bouncy and garbled.
Like a second grade kid with his dads cassette recorder.

You rock, PD! Your stuff is among the best Blues I've ever heard in my life. (From your BM page)

I did my fist open mic about two months ago. That day, there were only two performers that got an applause. I was not one of them, nor was I offended. I really didn't deserve it for two reasons. It was my first public performance, thereby being very nervous and mostly because I kept being set back by other performers the house knew which gave me more time to drink more beer than I should've, And I hope there's no video! One other detail, I brought my electric to an acoustic only, thereby being force to use their electrified acoustic, Not a double cuttaway, and missed a slide action by a mile.

I love open mics,I used to play at a place called Peaches in Dayton Ohio.
Moved to Massillon.
Great bunch of people at open mics whether your friends are there or not.
I had no friends when I went, nervous as hell did my three songs and was
accepted real well. Good luck on your future mic nights and continued success.
