Lynard Dylan wrote:He seems overrated to me, while he might. Sort of agree BUT he took classic blues tunes and interpreted/incorporated them into a powerful BIG sound equivalent to an arena rock band. I can only think of a handful of artists who have been capable of pulling it off, Clapton, SRV, Hendrix. IMO he's definitely not overrated.
be in his own league, he's not in the league
at the top. Isn't Phil Lynnot the one who dragged
him to the top? You could say he would have done it on
his own, but that's not the way it happened. He seems
to stay strictly in the blues scale, to me the greats played
out of the blues scale (or Pentatonic minor, minus the
blues note), and added in little pieces from the major
scale, or a jazz scale, or a ascending scale(all his stuff I've
heard hear he descends). He's good but I don't think he's
great. Just my opinion, he'd just be another screaming
hot blues guitar player, without Phil.
