Last night my bass player came by my house to pick up some gear ti use with the other band he plays in.

I have this real loud obnoxious door bell.

Andy said just imagine if you hit it and it played Black Dog like the cell phones did, of course we laughed about it.

But, and maybe its already been done or is in the works, but modern house are being wired for smart appliances, and other devices.

So why not have a subscription service to play the latest hits, or some song or bands music, for your doorbell?

A business like this is cool, I love business's that have long term residuals, take cell phones, they get a monthly fee from you, take cable or direct tv, once someone gets these services they pay thier fee every month, year after year. This could be that type of business.

Just an idea, so if someone on here is astute enough on computors you might could rich with an idea like this, beats the sh*t out of talking about politics and religion on here.

Anyway, just thought I would share that thought, I have no interest in the idea, so if someone wants to run with it, go for it, I hope you make a million bucks! And its musical in nature and might put enough money in someones pocket to continue thier dream of playing music. Hell you might insert a few of your own songs in there.

Who knows? What kind of music do you play? Doorbell music. HUH????

Yea everytime my subsribers ring thier doorbell, they hear my music, Im the king of front door music!

LOL

Well - I was thinking everyone should have their own theme song when they walk in the front door. What's your theme song? Keep it queued on your smart phone and play it every time you enter a building or walk up to your friends :D

JW,

Buy one of those $20 MP3 players from Shopco. Tear off the case and run a pair the wires from the play switch to a doorbell button. Run another set of wires from the "stop" button. Use a simple 555 timer to turn it off by running the output to the stop switch wires. The 555 timer can be set to 5 seconds to three minutes with a single timing capacitor and a variable resistor. I am sure you can find a 555 timing circuit on the Internet, or perhaps a gazillion of those circuits on the net. Hook the MP3 player output to a small amplifier. Then load the player with all the songs you may want to use.

Choose the song you want, set the player to repeat once and go. Or set to repeat all and get a different song every time the doorbell switch is pushed. Very simple. The doorbell triggers the start and the 555 timer. When the timer reaches its set limit, it activates the stop playing contact of the MP3 player. As mentioned before, 555 timer circuits are both easy to build and common on the Internet.

There is your personalized doorbell. As far as subscription door bell songs, I doubt that there would be a very big market for that. However all your friends may want one that you can install. :)

With any luck, a beginner in electronics could wire it for you. It's that simple.

Bingo! Theme music is the thing.

If you saw "Gonna get you sucker" you'll know that ever super hero needs his theme music.

I'm embarassed to tell this but one day as I pulled up in my drive way the wife came over and said 'Talbot - why is it whenever you pull up I hear the same music?"

Well, its 'Last of the Wilds' by Nightwish and I've adopted it as my theme music. I play it when I get to work (back when I had a job!) and when I get home or stop some where important!

yeah... I know. :?

And for the narcissist who already has everything him, they could install a small video screen next to the doorbell that actually shows them playing! :)

JW,

Hmmmm, :) :)

But how much better it would be to have a 60" flat screen where the poster is with you playing your guitar every time the dorbell button is pushed!!!! (As well as having the smaller outside screen for those who ring the bell.)
