I'm in a progressive metal band in its early development stages but we don't have a name yet. I need help from any creative minds here to help me think of a good, attention grabbing name, nothing stupid like all these other bands with the 3 part names like "august burns red" or "after the burial." We want something original that Canadians would be proud to call their band if or when this gets big for us. And something we don't regret calling ourselves of course. Stupid names or comments will be flagged.

What happens when you're flagged? I wonder if I've ever been flagged. Do they kick you off Bandmix? How about not having a name? Literally. No letters, numbers, symbols, nothing. Just a big space. Your first CD you put out there's NOTHING on it except music. Of course you copywrite your tunes, but nobody knows your name. Then at your concerts you do perform live except there's a black space on stage and nobody can see the band, absolutely NOTHING but music. This way you concentrate 100% on the music. No gimmicks. No green hair. No suits made out of meat. Nothing but music. Nobody knows anything about you, except they can't get enough of you because you're NEVER EXPOSED. You also sell MILLIONS of books of poetry and lyrics, black pages with white letters. On your band website you also sell MILLIONS of CD's. Sorry to digress, I can't think of any good names for you....

Steely Dan was named after a dildo, UB40 is an unemployment form U2 is a spy plane, FooFighters is some colored lights WWII pilots claimed guided them on missions so.... don't make it too important.

Where are you from? Town, Providence, Street etc...
Maybe use something relating to your heritage or hometown.
Ex: East street band, Asbury Jukes, Linkin Park etc...
How bout The Can-a-dudes.
Good Luck... aye?

If you can't come up with a name, how will you come up with original music?

It would appear (based on this article) that Canadian's spend a great deal of energy shaping themselves nationally, in order to be liked.

How Canadians See Themselves
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I took this photo at the airport in Holland. This guy has a maple leaf flag on his backpack because he assumes this will make him more popular with the Europeans.
Like any country, Canada is a nation of cherished national myths and self-praise. We are also a nation rather obsessed with how others perceive us, with many Canadians eager to play up positive "outsider" observations about Canada as a source of national pride.
There is now a generally well-understood list of stereotypes about Canadians that forms the basis of much of the Canadian self-identity. Looking at the list below, you'll notice that most of these stereotypes generally make Canadians look good, and reflect a sort of liberal-left philosophy on life. As a result, some nationalists will describe these clichés as fundamental statements of "Canadian values," rather than mere generalizations.
In recent years, however, many have started to become critical of the existing flattering stereotypes of Canada. Many conservatives in particular have argued that Canada's current national myths are excessively political, leftist, and divisive, and have had an overall negative influence on the country's modern development. Others have simply argued that these clichéd statements are overly idealistic and utopian, and only describe a Canada we wish existed, rather than one that actually does.
The following is my attempt to compile a list of the most common Canadian stereotypes, self-perceptions and national myths, as well as the contemporary criticisms that are leveled against each.

* Table of Canadian stereotypes on site.

Canadian polling firms are constantly releasing statistics to either prove or disprove these various claims and counter-claims. Trying to define exactly what "values" are truly Canadian is thus somewhat of a cottage industry in this country, with numerous books having been churned out by many prolific Canadian authors in an attempt to answer the question.

Naming a band should be the last step in the development process. Authors usually title their work after its written so the title summarizes the work and doesn't dictate the content.

One of my favorite band names of a group I was in in college, was
4 Drunk Fukkas, you can use that if you want.

shorten it to FUKKA, I kinda like that one! LOL

I can see it now, The Farleys with special guest FUKKA!
