Wed night me and my honey and a couple of friends went to see Night Ranger/Foreigner/Journey.

First off Night Ranger kicked ass, those guys still got the fire, of course they only played for about 30 minutes so it was a short sweet set, but they rocked.

Next up was Foriegner, I dont know if Ive ever seen them before or not, but it was obvious from his age that the singer wasnt Lou Gramm, I thought Mick Jones was playing, but come to find out he was sick and the guy that sounded just like him was a fill in. Of the three bands the funny thing was that to my ears they sounded the best of the night, the songs were just to the tee.

Then came Journey, Im not the greatest fan but I love Neal Schon, the new singer was very good. He sounded live to me better than Perry did. Neal Schon was wailing as always, hes a tough guitar player live. However where I was sitting the sound was just too muddy, there were way to many effects on the guitar for my taste and it just had that low frequency hum that I cant stand hearing. But the band was playing in great form and the new singer was one of the most energetic singers Ive seen in a long time.

Anyway just thought I would share, it was a hit filled night thats for sure!

And the crowd was going nuts from the first band on.

Funny there was a time when bands made major changes in personnel where people wouldnt go see them or boo them, but wed night I dont think anyone in the crowd cared at all.

Thats Funny JW I am going to see that same EXACT show here in Houston a week from this Monday. Lou Gramm has been out of Foriegner for about 6 years now. Very sad with his talent! He had Brain Cancer and is one of the few people that beat it. It wore him down though! This new guy sounds just like Lou IMO! I sure am hoping Mick is with them when they come here! 8)

Yes everyone is replaceable these days. I saw Yes in 2009 with their new singer, sounded great. I saw Alice in Chains last year with their new singer, sounded great. I saw Thin Lizzy and INXS this year both with new singers, both sounded pretty good. There's such a large pool of talent to draw from these days.

It was a really good show, hope you enjoy it!

JW Night Ranger are the main ones I want to see Brad Gillis is with them but I don't think Jeff Watson is. I had read in Guitar Player mag.last year that they had another guitar player in place of Jeff they didn't say why. Anyway thanks for the heads up!
