Audition scheduled:

For tomorrow night.
We have ( or Steve has ) located someone interested in audition for the second guitar position of NKF.

From what I understand he is a versatile player whom also plays bass as well as some piano and sings.

Could open up some unique opportunities for diversity in our music.

The young man is known too us so it's not as if a total stranger would be added to the mix.

Steve and Eric both played with him last night at a revival.
They will be playing again this evening.
If I can arrange I'll go over there for a listen myself.

I am guardedly excited about the prospects.

Wish us luck !

Best of luck George, but remember it will be a different band. Replacing just one player changes the band so be flexible and open-minded.

Thanks Jimmy.
I'll try to keep an open mind about it all.

Though we are not really replacing as much as adding.
The "new" guy's initial role will be to assume Ray's guitar parts so Ray can concentrate on vocals, with B.U.V. being a secondary concern.
Ray is interested in being more of a " front man ".
Not just playing and singing.

Who knows though ... if he fits well into the chemistry ... it may lead us into a whole different direction sonically as well as performance wise.

If I were not such a cautious individual I'd probably be giddy about it all.

X2 and definitely incorporate keyboards. A church organ sound would be a nice addition on some of your tunes.

I actually did seek some keys while looking for the guitarist.
And I'm told this young man plays " some " piano.

This is what I think will happen. It sounds like he will add much to the mix.

Guitar is out there acclimating to the atmosphere.

Song book printed ...

Yeah ... I'm ready.

Outside the old comfort zone is good.

Went well.
Nothing earth shattering to report as of now.

Waiting on feed back from the band.

SO! Is he in is he out is he maybe, inquiring minds want to know.
WTF
Is the singer going to sing differently since he is focusing on that?
Maybe some makeup
You have invested $ and time in other member who is leaving.
Things will have to be done over again.
Will musical style and sound change?
Are band members flexible and open enough to handle the change?[/b]

So far "Jax" is working out fine.
He has been through two full rehearsals. The first was up front cold with no idea what he was getting into.
The second it was obvious he had been studying the charts and listening to the CD.
He won't be in the gig this Sunday. We are not ready for that step yet.
He's a nut ... fits the band persona pretty good
At present we are just working him into carrying Rays parts of rhythm guitar.
And it will give Ray the opportunity to really focus his energy on vocals.
Considering we are not professionals in the sense of having played and sang for years ... this has to be a benefit.
And allow for greater stage presence from Ray as well.
Will it change the sound ... yes.
But we are all about different sounds that carry an NKF energy / identity.
So this is in keeping with our musical ideal.
And NO that NKF signature won't change.
It will just come in more flavors.
So far no one is leaving.
This is an add on to free Ray from his guitar duties.
I don't full understand it ... but Ray does not really want to play guitar at all ... he wants to sing.

Go figure ...
