As some of you folks know I am a Southern boy! I LOVE my chicken fried steak with Breakfast, Dinner and Supper LOL! Now down here in the south the breads that are readily available are Tortilla's, Corn Bread and White Bread.
I know this ain't all there is because I Love me some Rye Bread and not just any Rye. My Beautiful 5th Generation French Texan girl has TURNED me on to Jewish Rye :D
Don't get me wrong folks (my 17 year old) tells me NO one uses the term FOLKS anymore! I can FIX you the BEST BBQ you ever ate! However I love me some Pastrami on Rye, Especially if it is on a REUBIN sandwich DAYUM! I also love Perogi's.
What other good foods do you folks from around the country Know is the best?

Real homemade chicken and dumplings. When my wife makes this
she checks the dumplins, if they stick to her arm, they're ready.
She also makes her own bread, Wheat & White. She is a true
Southern cook taught by her Grandmother. No recipies, It's all
in her head. Her Grandmother also taught her how to lay brick & block. :D [/b]

Rye bread is the best. Good NY pizza (you can get bad here also) because of the water, and don't laugh at that.
Ribs, we mix up a batch of 23 herbs and spices(YES IT IS A SECRET), pressure cook them, sometimes smother them in a sauce de jour. You have to eat them with a spoon, and its not just the pressure cooking.

Or slow cooked BBQ chicken. You need the small birds at least 2, the roasters don't work, mushrooms and lemon in a baking pan (water, don't let the water boil away). cover and cook on low for about 3 or 4 hours. MMMM...

Just try to get them out of the pan in one piece, can't be done. Only thing better, Ribs, see above.

I've lived in the south for about 5 years and love it AND all my redneck buddies. There are, however some foods I enjoyed when I lived in NYC and Chicago that don't seem to have made their way down here.

Tandoori Chicken- The Indian version of BBQ, cooked in a clay oven. Good charred flavor, falls off the bone.

Russian Borscht - Awesome comfort food. It's a beet soup but don't let that scare you. It's got shredded beef and potatoes which makes it ok.

Falafel - a middle eastern sandwich made with deep fried chick pea patties. Alright there's no way to make that one sound good but it is. I swear. It's deep fried so that should count for something!

Man it might be time to go visit my parents in NY.
