I am so stoked tonight

Went to one of my old haunts... Band played and I connected with a bass player. The dude f**k rocks as a performer. On top of that , he's a musical director for a school system. The drummer was just as awesome. Anyway I had chatted with them before they went on.. Told them about my project attempts. They did a set. On their break, the guitarist stepped up to me and (un provoked) asked me to step up and play a tune. Now mind you, I had been buying their drinks all night,... So I did .. I took on the guitarist's Telecaster... and played an original called "Mr. Louis" . Wellllllll.. what the f**k can I say?... The drummer jumped in, the bassist jumped and I did my first tune as a guest artist. The band totally dug it and so did the audience. In fact... a photographer , who says he resides in Switzerland (and swears he shot a U2 concert) came up to me afterward and told me how much he really liked my song. The girls I danced with also told me that I did not suck. ;) LOL!

I gotta tell ya, what a f**k wonderful evening this was for me! I had to share this here! It was totally unexpected. It just goes to show you that things happen when you get out sometimes :D

Didn't I tell you to go out and listen to bands and at least talk to their bass players. Some of them have time for a second project, if not a third. You can't create a band in a vacuum. When you see other bands in person you're auditioning their bass player without going through the aggravation of having people not show up or not capable of playing your tunes. Have you talked to bass guitar teachers? Some of those people might be capable and willing to help you. You have to get out there.

PD, thats a great story! I sometimes prefer sitting in like that over playing a 4 hour show, cause I can come off of the stage and people treat me like the rock star I am, LOL.

Keep On Rockin!!

Yes, you did tell me .

What's really cool is the bassist is also a Celloist (Got his degree in it) and he was telling me he knew pretty much every classicist in town... It so happens I have a song that absolutely cries out for a piece of orchestration and he seemed very interested. So well see how this unfolds. Needless to say I'm excited about it.

Cool deal, Dog! So let's see where that all leads. I'm with what Bob said, they're out there, it may take a while, you just have to find them.

Yep! Now this guy has a heavy schedule, but was definitely interested in hearing some of my sh*t... I'll follow up soon enough.

In the mean time, Next week I'm booked for a couple of hours to lay down a click track... to give my drummer something solid to work with...He will put his track down. Following that, I'll lay down my rendition of a bass line (I don't expect this bassist to commit to every song of mine, but he can probably get me connected with some support...so with that I'll still make an attempt to do my own tracks, unless something comes up.)

You got an outstanding hookup. It don't matter how slow things are happening. Personally, my ideal musician community is the one you discovered. You have some musicians with roots in more than one genre which opens up more avenues for you AND them. You want them calling on you as well. Enjoy your journey. 8)
