Demos, anyone?

What's with all the listings that have no demos, and little or no information about the type of music they want to play? Do they really think anyone is going to ping them?

Bandmix is a public forum / service.
Anyone can join.
I would imagine a fair percentage are just bored people who want to pretend to be a musician.
It's up to us to sort them out.

It's just the nature of the beast.

I know what you guys mean... I just got out of a band, and I posted something as quickly as I could.... and let me tell ya, the quality does not get much worse than this... Recorded on a $35.00 MP3 player, which uploaded as a wav, which than had to be converted back to MP3, than have the hell compressed out of it. BUT. There is something on my page that shows you I can at least hold the instrument properly!

I joined the forum to catch back up on the music scene after a hiatus - it was soon obvious that I needed to post some product. Need to post some more <sigh>.

I'm still catching up on tech. I just got a new laptop, external sound card and decent speakers with the intent of recording passable work. I suppose I'll eventuallly get it all working...

I suppose folks who post profiles without peeking at the forum may not get how important that has become.

I may be off key here (no pun intended).. But I never thought of bandmix as the place where I would worry about posting my best production quality... (that's obvious in my case LOL!)
I have listened to a lot of other member's stuff, and frankly, in most cases I'm not impressed with their efforts in production quality. This is due to the fact that a lot of them can't write a simple song. So, covering that up with all the production and effects effort in the world aint gonna change it or make it better.

I say this, cause I know there are lots of great musicians out here (Mike, I think you qualify..<wink> ) who post stuff, and I hear what they are trying to do musically...And yet the stuff was fashioned very crudely with crude equipment (I like to refer to it as "Guerrilla recordings".. But that crude output wont hide the fact that the song stands on its own..
Maybe I'm just too fooking weird...

So what I'm trying to say is get your stuff up there... no matter how crude. The muscians who are worth a sh*t, will get it and won't be bothered by lack of production here. In fact, it may inspire ideas and lull others to jump in :)

Now, if crude should include a cheap hour at a studio.. I say go for it. Its what I've been doing, when I can afford it.

I agree, and as PD was saying post something... give me a clue as to what you're about otherwise, what's the point in joining a classified site.
I don't mind low budget recordings, it's what i do.

One of my favorite is:

Influences: Everybody!
or
Influences: Too many to list!

Thanks. That's very helpful. Expect my call...never.

C'mon people, why do you even bother to list here? If you can't figure out how to put down basic material about yourself, then how can I expect you to show up to a rehearsal with your material learned?

In all seriousness if I'd based my contact decisions on the prejudices listed here ( including my own preference for some form of demo ) NKF would never have come into existence.

Allowing prejudices ( now matter how accurate they are by percentage ) to interfere with your quest, is not the warriors way.
