Sheesh - they made such a big deal out of this. That new guy can't hold a candle to Steve Whatsisface...oh yeah...Perry. i'll give him some handicap points cuz it's early in the morning, but he still sucks, imho.

I seen where they were given that award for 'Don't stop believing' being the all time leader for single sales. The new guy doesn't come close to Perry but looks like he is on the ride of his life. I can't agree on riding someone elses coat tails either, but I wouldn't say they suck. They are just trying to keep the show going.
I wouldn't buy a ticket to see em for 5 bucks, and doubt I would go if it were free !

Because Pete Townsend did not keep his promise and die before he got old we have concert venues clogged with geezers whose careers should have been over thirty years ago.

Other than being a child porn researcher I don't know what else Pete Townsend is qualified to do...

I dunno. When a band tries so hard to get a singer that sounds so much like their original, they become a tribute band to themselves...& I just don't respect that.
Deep Purple changed their sound entirely every time they changed out a singer. That's the way to do it, imho.
Btw..."Psychoderelict" was a very cool concept album, bob. There are some very great tracks on it, especially "English Boy" & "Dinosaur."

I think Arnel Pineda is a really good vocalist! No he is not Steve Perry, and no one should expect him to be. Steve Perry is no where near the vocalist he used to be. With age he can no longer hit the really high notes he used to, and his voice is also become very raspy sounding. He was also a major control freak in the band. Steve Perry will never again be a part of Journey and I am ok with that. They like many other bands have had a lot of lineup changes. I think you need to let it go and learn to be a real Journey fan no matter who is in the band.

I saw some recent Journey live vids and they looked pretty good.
I saw Foreigner live last year and was pretty disappointed. Live lead vocals, lead guitar and Jason Bonham on drums were great. The rhythm guitar and bass were 100% tracks with actors standing up there and holding the guitar necks in all the wrong positions. I was embarrassed for them.

Steve is still the best. But if Journey is to play on, then anyone that can sing like the guy they have now then more power to them. At least they are still rocking and making money.
