On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine

Just found out that an album of Laurel and Hardy's movie tunes was released in 1975 called On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine. Don't know if it's available on CD but I'm hoping it is. On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine was a L & H tune from their movie Way Out West, my favorite L & H feature. It also made it to Number 2 on the English Billboard music chart in 1975! Fascinating and amazing! (To me an L & H fanatic)

As a side note.
My maternal grandmother ( God rest her ) played piano for the "silent movies " .
She lost that job to technology when the " talkies " came out.
Sound familiar ?

I'm a huge fan of classic movies including silent films. Did you know that Stan Laurel was in the same comedy troop with Charlie Chaplin and they both came over to the States together. Most of the modern films are based mainly on special effects. The "acting" is for the most part amateurish compared to the classic movie stars. L & H were the only silent film stars who became bigger stars in talkies. Most silent film stars didn't make the transition succesfully.

Yes ... one need only examine the same dumb animal expressions on the faces of today's television " drama " actors and actresses to know your right.

I just saw a commercial not to long ago about old Shirley Temple movies, digitized in HD, etc. So I got to reading up on her career.. Quite an extraordinary young lady she was...and was all about the fun in the acting.

Didn't Temple become a succesful politician? A lot of child stars have terrible lives. If I remember Alfalfa (Little Rascals) was killed in a gambling incident. Jay North (Dennis the Menace) had all kinds of problems and worked as a prison guard later in life.

Shirley Temple Black was an American ambassador for years.
To whom I don't recall.
I don't suspect being an ambassador is all that difficult as long as the foreign aid checks cash.

Anticipation fooled me I clicked on this topic thinking that the subject was about one of my favorite movie or TV series genre... Western, it is not, I reread the title of the post and found out the last word is “pine” not “dove”

. Actually On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine was from L & H's only Western themed movie (Way Out West) so this topic is about Westerns a little. There's some scenes from Way Out West (donkey scene, locket scene, tickle scene) that are some of L & H all time funniest moments.
