Hey hey,

I'm trying to promote a chance to get your name out there for some local talent. We have over 850 members at our post plus open to public. I need some new blood to rock the house. A wide range of music is preferred but some showmanship too. You provide the tunes, I'll get the bodies in the house. This should be looked at as a networking opportunity. I am looking for those that would like a chance to give back to those that have sacrificed for all of us. "Pay" is a different discussion all together. If you have the talent and can rock the house then, we can talk money. Who wants to volunteer first? Please contact me when you are free.

Very Respectfully,

At the risk of sounding like I don't understand John Wayne's quote...
If you are promoting a club act, then please consider the following:

-USO shows are the true measure of volunteering/giving thanks to the troops.
- Our troops sacrifice their lives...but probably wouldn't do it if the eagle didn't poop every two weeks

Having said that, you might want to consider not using our troops sacrifice as the logic to pitch your profit-making scheme here. (I could be wrong on this assumption, and if so, my apologies)
Therefore, Might I suggest perhaps that you offer a tangible token for the band who wishes to earnestly pay homage to the troops. (i.e Transportation arrangements, Stipends/expense/ free beer, etc)

I'm just keeping it real. Nothing , not even war time sacrifice is totally altruistic. : )

You are to funny!

Seeing how I have given 16 years of my life and currently serving, dont tell me what to promote. I suggest you have a little control before you assume anything. I am not mad, but a little pissed that you felt I was using sacrifices like a crutch. I was and still just looking for interest in a small lounge type band. Its not glorious and Hollywood bound, but I assure you the vets will appreciate the entertainment. Also, since I am not the finance officer, how can I promise any pay. I only thought this might be a good medium for those who wish to experiment the time and see if they like it. I will answer any inquiries about what I hope to accomplish. I do not have a degree in advertisement so I'm just telling it how it is.

We have a lounge, would you like to play there, you will be entertaining vets.

Please contact me for more answers, or ideas.

Will you be wiping your ass with thousand dollar bills when your done?

Hell, who knows, but if you dont email me with your questions, needs, or some ideas, then dont give me a rash of quasi-intelligent sh*t. I have a significant executive position in this Post and I can push to get your requests. Its out on the table now............

Hey, this vet agrees with this.

And PaperDog,
Dont worry man, we troops are all to much business nowadays, we like a little entertainmanet! The USO stopped by when I was deployed, and even though I'm not a fan of any of those bands, its great that they came out to see us.

We're under orders and threat of punishment, it's not our fault we give. But we are proud to do so.

Vice, I 'm a vet and I don't need you to lecture me on the principles of control and assumption. Let's begin with the way you communicated your pitch... Basically, it sucks... Why? Cause you should have been up front in the first place about the volunteereing, instead of feeding us this panzy-assed story about "payment" prospects to begin with. (You sounded like one of those civilian club owners trying to cash in and exploit our soldiers "state of affairs") If you want a volunteer, then don't insult my ass by dressing it up with your dumb-ass conjecture about expectation for payment. Hell , by your own admission you aren't even qualified or authorized to discuss or negotiate payment. So what in the hell are you bringing that up for anyway?? If you had a freakin clue, there are many musicians here that might have have told ya they do it for free anyway. Maybe you should step the f**k outta the way and let a real laision officer handle this...

Dismissed!

Hey bro, I get what the troops have gone through. I also know there are a lot of greedy mother f**k out there trying to take advantage. So I called out 'Private Pyle' here... and he bit. Trust me, there is nothing more noble and honorable than for musicians to entertain the troops. All I'm saying is he didn't have to insult some of us by dragging in some diatribe about payment.
