Other peoples stupidity should not cause you shame.

We will play and event tomorrow where possibly hundreds of people maybe a thousand or more ( if like last year ) will be celebrating and giving thanks to God as well as our veterans.

The majority maybe sheeple ... but there are still patriots among us.

There was a band playing downtown last night. An old veteran saw the faded tattered flag flying overhead.

He took it down.

Keep in mind that not only were we breaking from the British ruling class, but in many ways more importantly, it was an act towards Religious Freedom, breaking away from the iron socio-political clutches of the Roman Catholic Church.

I take much pride in being an American... and when I see the ignorance that prevails (as illustrated in the link) , it kills me... It embarrasses me... Because it reminds me that maybe my generation has somehow failed to get the American principles of ethics, freedom, and spirit across to the next generation. It embarrasses me because we Americans have European, Asian , Middle Eastern friends, who can now scoff logically at our principles, reminding us that perhaps those principles have ultimately failed. Above all, it scares the crap out of me to think our future, will some day end up in the hands of these ignorant people...

Let em tell you how bad it is...one kid actually thought we were celebrating our independence from China... The irony...it may very well come to us having to find independence from China...

I understand and it causes me frustration as well at times.
I have to remind myself that liberty is a double edged sword.
Just because we have a right to act or think in a particular manor does not make it wise.
Liberty can and does breed foolishness.
It is the nature of things.

When you give a man an opportunity to become strong, educated and gain wisdom ... you by the same token crate an opportunity for his sloth and foolishness.
And we know which path is easier.

It is like so much of life ... what we choose to make of it.

I wouldn't even fall for that smack. These guys go out and ask tons of people then they single out the numbnuts and only broadcast them then state that Americans are stupid. They're the ones who should be ashamed, broadcasting to other countries and ourselves that we're generally stupid. It's all about what makes good media and part of the general mind f**k.

Chaeya, I'd believe you except for one small detail... No American that I know, would get caught dead, looking like an idiot on purpose. (Were essentially too vain for that) That interview had too many 'numb-nuts'. If those kids signed off on that, then they are stupid enough for just having done that. Now Its probably overstated a bit, like you say... But I really believe that fundamentally, those kids are that un-informed.

Also, having experienced the California School System, for my own son... well... You remember my sentiment about Judges and lawyers...? I feel the same way about California Education system. I ask many of my friends, who voted for Gray Davis back in the day... Hows that California Lottery (for education) thing working out?

Paper, don't you know that when I do something, it's never half-assed, unplanned or unresearched? There's nothing wrong with the California education system as long as you know where the good school districts are and where the bad ones are. I live in the Orange County suburbs which has a number of excellent school districts. The school district I'm in is phenomenal. My daughter is autistic and is in special ed. I couldn't wish for a better place for her with the resources my district has given us. Sbe gets both education and psychological help. I work closely with my daughters' teachers so I'm quite in the know as to what they're learning and what they're not.

There are plenty of shitty school districts all across America, not just in California. It's all about neighborhods and zip codes, you live in inner city, poor areas, chances are you're in a pretty shitty school district. All it takes is a little research to find out where the good schools are. Anybody planning to have kids should check out the school district they're in, if it's crap then consider moving or using someone's address.

So I'm not in a lottery. I educate the hell out of my kids outside of school.

But back to the original point, I agree, the entire thing was probably staged, but I have run into a number of young numbnuts, so I can believe it.

My Son Attended a high-school in San Diego (Tierra Santa). I believe it was deemed a magnet school. I was invited to sit in on a board meeting with that school's principal. What I can tell you is that the meeting focused entirely on the athletic dept /football funds... even though the agenda was supposed to discuss curriculum programs. I was just happy to eat really good donuts and pastries...So I did not complain one iota ;)

I have a very close friend whose son has Autism. He's such a bright kid and has really come far in his life. He holds his own very well... In fact, his mother informally (as in not a scientist) contributed quite a bit to some of the earlier research on Autism.

Anyway, I am glad you found the right place for your daughter. And yes.. You are right, its really a matter of researching the options. ;)

Actually, there was a news report done on how schools push athletics above academics, how these star players were given breaks on homework and exams to keep them on the team, which was when all the hooplah was enacted stating that they had to keep their grades up like everyone else. Like radio payola, I think it just went underground.

I looooove my daughter's school and her teacher. She's in special ed, but this year was the first year they allowed her to sit in on Social Studies and Science classes, and she gets help with her homework. She'll probably be in special ed for most of her school years because she does need supervision and a small class size which I'm thankful for.

Many ppl just freeze up & can't think straight when they're faced with someone with a microphone. I don't take this stuff seriously. Any one of us could freeze up & say stupid things under some circumstance that makes us feel less than comfortable.

And if you're asking questions of ppl who are "partying," don't expect too many perfect answers.

This doesn't shame me. It makes me proud that we can be so free as to be so wrong, so uneducated, by choice.

LOL
