Rewiring Pickups - hey, I'm getting good at this stuff!

haha! Wires, everywhere! But I managed to connect the right ones! I started off with two new humbuckers, which I'm still trying to determine if I like them or not - they're the Steve Vai evos. Problem was that the factory 5-way switch for ibanez 6 strings is made for the their stock pickups which are 3 wire?! anyways, naturally the 4 wire pups didn't exactly fit the bill, so I pickuped up a 5 way Mega switch - then in all my brilliance, I called DiMarzio after the fact and said - hey, will this switch work? :) They said, kindof - then gave me a wiring diagram and I got everything working fine. Problem is the configuration doesn't really give me all possible variations. Wanting a challenge, I purchased their 5 way switch (DiMarzio) and they gave me a wiring diagram to get all the confiugrations I wanted so I'll be rewiring my geetar yet a gain! Took me all of 20 minutes to solder the MegaSwitch in as a temporary while I'm waiting for the DiMarzio pickup, but after rewiring my guitar like 3 times now, the little light came on and I'm starting to understand this whole wiring thing :)

I was thinking what's next is to build my own guitar, and instead of a 5 way switch, I'll install a light switch for an on-off position, and a pull-chain lamp switch to toggle between 3 different configurations. :D

How is everyone? Been a while I since I checked in?

Cheers,
Chris

Nice to hear from you Chris.

Doing quite well over here thanks.

Glad someone has the patience to wire guitars.

Been really busy with band, family, full time nursing position, and my wife too whom not only has a full time nursing job but her new business opens officially in July.

Hope she does well so that when one of the little larger buildings comes available in our recently renovated down town district we can pick that up.
My intent is to have a little music shop inside her store. :D

On a side note our drummer Steve-O picked up a China crash. One of those hand hammered jobs actually hand made in China.
I drilled four small equally spaced holes around the base of the bell and gradually enlarged them with sanding drums and a Dremel tool.

Finally got the sound he wanted out of them, still sounds kinda trashy but it's a little cleaner than the original and decays faster.

That was a fun and different musical project I kind of enjoyed.

I am well.
Though, sadly I report that I haven't yet learned to NOT post on religious-oriented threads...

ugh

I bet he paid a handsome ransom for that Crash. He let you loose with a drill on it?!!! That's the definition of a faithful friend ^.^

What new business? As in clinic, or is she venturing out to something new? Sounds exciting (and verve wracking!)!!

Hey James, that's good. Cisco just gets his friend to do it. He had some Humbuckers, but now he uses only Kinman pickups.

I'm getting ready for my show on Saturday. I'm putting together goody bags for everyone with a lyric book, CD and a button. Can you tell I organized too many birthday parties for my kids? I just can't stop doing crafts.
