I think we all have our spinal tap moments.here`s one of ours.
one of the guys sets up a gig at an american legion with 2 other rock bands so we could try out some new material.we we`re gonna play first,so were setting up,its around 6 and were waiting for the other bands to show up.well now it`s 10 min to 8 so we call the other guys and they say they`re in the parking lot unloading.it`s 8 o`clock so we start, some people start coming in then some more.after about a minute they all walk out, after the first song was over we stopped and went outside.when we got outside we see about 75 wwII vets with their hats and jackets on and more driving into the parking lot,yep you got we were a the wrong place!the stage was lit and we could`nt see the type of people that were coming into that part of the legion because it was dark.we lever lived that one down, the guys from the other bands found out about it.

Ha..that's funny.
Glen, don't get me wrong, I honestly don't feel bad over this (hence the LOL in the title) due to the fact I'm the new member of this band that has been together for over 7 years..Really not my prob if they can't draw anyone at certain times. Personally it's not the type of music my strictly heavy metal friends want to hear so they honestly don't come all the way out east to come and see a band they will be able to eventually see when we're out their way! Like I said in my post, if given the choice, I would definitely have gone to a wild party or one of the fairs going on then to a stupid bar on such a gorgeous memorial day weekend evening! I just packed my sh¡t up and got home early enough to enjoy today (on my way out now to my sisters for a barbecue). I was just amazed that NO ONE showed up!

Thank God it was only about 5 minutes from my house or I'd have lost it!

I put togther a show for a Christmas party at a nice restaurent one time. I repeated several times, "we don't do Christmas music - we're a very heavy nasty band - are you sure?" Don't you worry Mike...
We opened with the loud sinister intro to Tod Rundgren's Utopia. The people were so hostile it was almost funny -They hated us. Said so, loudly...We lasted 5 minutes. (I went to LA after that to redeem my honor)
Or the biker bar in Pittsburg, with a soft rock band, acoustic instruments except for me on bass. the head honcho was willing to accept it was a booking error. He then handed us something wicked and said, "Do this - then get your asses up on stage and play Born to Be Wild!' We did, and we did...

i have another one, about 10 years we played at a church carnival.we got in because 2 bands cancelled, they asked us what kind of music we played and we told them it was classic rock.we liked the fact that the bands get to setup on a flatbed and everything was miked.we were the first band and we did all original music.we openned up with GO DOWN BURNING and we looked at each other and thought ok no problem so we went through our song list which was go GO DOWN BURNING,NIGHT OF HELL,DEMON OF SPEED,DEATH MARCH,VAMPIRE BITE,JECKYL AND HYDE,and a guitar solo, the people liked it.all was going well `tll the last song, which was called PUTA.we were 1/2 through the song when a priest comes running out of nowhere and yelling at us to stop and then turning to the guy running the mixing board to stop.it seems that no one came by to check on us because all the bands were christian bands, even the ones that cancelled, except us.the priest was hispanic and caught on to the lyrics of PUTA from far away.they paid us well and told us never to come back.we went to denny`s and laughed our heads off thinking,it`s ok to sing about the devil but the church draws the line at whores.
