Who might I go to, to have music off an album scored out?

I know there are many notation software programs for the job, but I can read music as fast as cold molasses drips from a jar. So, trying to figure out what's in the music will take me forever.

What kind of service uses the software to convert the music of others into sheet music the composers can use?

Doing a google just loads dozens of hits of software programs, not those who use them working for others.

Any ideas where I might go?

Find a local university with a strong music program. A skilled music major could score your album for a small fee and use it for a class project as well for less than 1/2 of the cost of a big name transcriber.

hmmm. If you're looking software to take existing audio files to create a score, you might check this out - some versions of this software can save notes to MIDI, then you can use a DAW such as Cubase to create a music scores. Just thinking off the top of my head. Don't know how well the scoring would work for you, but its the only software that came to mind.

Yeah I had that idea for a school. I just emailed my daughter at college to see if anyone there might be into it.

I've looked at software programs which can "listen" to recorded music and turn it into midi. I wasn't too impressed with the results from the products I heard. Would still leave me with a lot of work getting things correct. Plus, the ones I looked at are not able to function with constant percussion in the tracks. Fowls them up.

Celemony looks like something it would take me as long to figure out as trying to decipher what's on the album.

What are you looking for? Do you just need sheet music or a full orchestral score? One is a small job, one is much larger.[huge difference]

If you are trying to translate a rockband song, 4,5,6,7, parts, you are going to need much more than simple notation, If you need arrangements you are in a whole 'nother world.

I recorded an album thirty years ago. I would like the music on the album - guitar and bass lines - scored. Once done, I can give it to others to work with, or figure out things myself. It's trying to figure out what's on the album that's killing me, because I don't read music.

I was given the key signatures for each song, and I was able to figure out the first song - guitar lines. Still have to figure out the bass lines. Then orchestrate, etc. I just need the template to work with.

I know there are software programs you can sing into which will score notes. But trying to sing a guitar solo? Not. Plus chords and all.

Just need a person/service that will take the album and score it out for me.

I should add, because I cannot really read music I work with numbers, 1 -12. No sharps, no flats, no letters, just numbers. Once I have the score in front of me I can transcribe my numbers in.

I don't know what you would use it for,unless you were trying to have it translated to a different band structure. I'm not trying to steer you wrong or make fun of you. You talk about getting the bass lines and guitar lines down. If the bass lines are integral than they are important. If it is a guitar solo you are trying to translate, that may be something that is so subject to change that artists, Clapton , Page, and so many others have put out "transcripts" of their "greatest " solos. Great learning tool if you have weak ears.

Even drum notation can become so complicated that no one is going to read it beyond the basic feel. 28 bars of rest and tympani 2 bars ,.,.,.

You have posed a very interesting query my friend. I know how to notate, but I haven't used it 30 years.
