Nope. I get scores of people from my area looking at my profile and I don't get one hey, hi or anything. The people who have contacted me don't fit in with what I'm doing. Sorry, but try elsewhere.
I've had good luck with this in the past:

You have to do a lot of contacting over time to get this to work. I've gotten a few offers for things I wasn't looking for. Mostly, the people I've contacted never return the message. I've been successful as of lately by contacting a member from their personal email. Seems like a lot of people don't check their accounts too often. Really, it's all up in the air on how you get hooked up. Everyone here seems to have their own unique story. Just keep fishing is what I say.

I have noted the send / response ratio to be about 20:1
Persistance and purity of intent is what counts...
Not numbers.

In the past I have gotten a few band members on here, not many. Most people contact me cause they already know me or know of me. I would assume you're a premier member. Right now I'm not but I have been in the past. It's obviously better to be a premier member than not. You'll get more response. I didn't check your profile but if you have included some of your music there it aids in the responses also. Good luck...

there are just to many flakes and if you`ll notice the profile will say that the person plays bass, guitar, keys, etc.so you contact this person `cos maybe you are looking for a bass player just like it says in the bio.well guess what that person does not want to play bass because they are not very good at it.so why the hell list it!this from personal experience,i believe band mix should correct this.

The only people I've ever connected with at bandmix were on this forum. I assume that 80% of the people who put up a profile are flakes.

I write back to everyone who writes me.

That's the funnest part of BM.
I saw a while back where Victorious Secrets checked out my profile. They never wrote me but I was so amped when that happened. Victorious Secrets is the band that was chosen to replaced the "house" band on free credit report dot com. I'm not here much but I love it here.

Hi All! I've had reasonably good results in both sending and receiving responses. I agree, you do get much better responses when you have a connection via personal email or a phone call. I've had a few musicians go to all the trouble to make a rehearsal date, only to find out that they weren't particularly good musicians. But then again, that's what open rehearsals are all about ... sometimes you set the stage for a future performer and sometimes you help them realize that there are better things to do with their time.
Sometimes even an old dog learns a new trick!

Have not had any luck here

Hey,
I'm a female bass player in NC. I have been trying to put an original band together for a year. People mostly want to play covers around here. I have posted pretty much everywhere and can't find people that actually WANT to play. They just want to post ads and talk crap about everyone else. I return EVERY EMAIL sent to me weather I am interested in the project or not. Most people I email rarely return a reply. The same with on here. I have sent out 10 emails in the last week and received 1 response. IT IS SO RUDE TO NOT REPLY TO SOMEONE. It really makes me mad. Can you tell? lol
No luck either....

Wow - it is good to see that I am not the only one having no reply issues. I am wondering if there are some hoaxes on the site - I feel like I just wasted $10 for a month for nothing. I emailed around 7 people/bands and never got even a reply from one. Just a reply saying no thanks would be better than nothing at all. I am wondering if they even get the original note! I got a note from a band last year and didn't get the note until I went back to the site a few months later - I am feeling a bit ripped off or maybe most musicians a just flaky - oh well - back to Craigslist...

And I wanted to add that I have it set to notify me when anyone replies to anything I have posted. I just got an email that I had a reply. But in fact I see I have several replies and some from a few days ago. So I guess there is a lag of some kind. I probably wasted 10 bucks but if I can get one person in a month it will be worth it. We shall see.
Waste of money?

Waste of money is of course relative to how much of that you have, and how much use you get out of this site. If you're new here and haven't read through the topics, it may be a waste of money. If you need information from those that may be a bit further down the road, this is a good site, not a waste. People here tend to lend the hand asked for, when even some of your closest "Buddies" might let you dry out rather than let you know their upper hand. On the other hand, some of these links would rather tell you your sh7T stinks than tell you it makes good fertilizer. What I come away with is much of what you already know about the music industry. There are good and bad people, and Egos that conflict like that of the Beatles. Be sovereign and prosper like Paul McCartny!

Eh. I think it's about average for musician contact sites. Lots of musicians get on a site like this expecting immediate results. They give up when they don't get it.
I'm personally finding it difficult to find musicians through any source right now. Too many of them are as disillusioned as I am with local musicians and - like me - not inclined to trust people just on their say so.
I don't really respond to most bands looking for musicians because I've found too many local bands that want a "yes man" bass player and aren't really interested in taking things to the level I want to.
If I'm feeling like that, why wouldn't there be other musicians out there feeling like that.
So, I'm working to overcome that resistance, but it's not easy.

I've also had a horrible time getting replies. When I first joined, I wrote a lot of people and nothing, not one response. And I don't think I'm that bad of a looker or incite "loser" when you listen to my songs. I've even offered them to get paid, still nothing, so I don't know what the heck they're looking for.
The problem is, from what I've gotten in the past, some musicians are expecting to walk into an all-star situation by being here. That they will find someone signed or some famous artist's manager will call them for a gig. Not gonna happen on here. Anyone who's worked with named artists or played as session players know that is a tight-knit community and you get in only if you're lucky enough to meet someone already "in." I got in because I answered a demo ad a producer posted. It was non-paying, but because of it, I wound up getting paid work and a lot of professional experience.
Musicians these days need to do a lot of waking up if they want to continue to do their craft.
