Sorry for the non musical post . I thoght I might share the wonderful week I've had for my friends here and hope some of the younger ones out here get something from this post.

Last Friday my wife celebrated her 50th birthday. We went to dinner and I gave her a nice ring. We had a wonderfull eveningtogether.

On Saturday I had a nice party for her and the new band I've been playing with came out, and my sons band came and we rocked the whole neighborhood. It was a good time till the drummer started with some unusual drama that stole the show. Too bad but maybe another drummer will have to come out.

As a lot of you know I'm in love with a roller derby queen. My youngest daughter helped start the Quad squad 4 years ago and my wife has been skating with them for 2 years. Its something I worried a lot over knowing it might be just a matter of time before she got hurt. Some think its a bunch of fake stuff like wrestling or something , but those girls go out there and get pretty rough with each other and give it their all.

On Sunday my wife took a pretty bad hit on the head , but got back up and finished practice . She complained a bit about a headache Monday and tuesday ,showed uo to practice Wednesday and during a bout broke her ankle in three places. Thank God the team doctor was there and got her into a splint, gave her a script for some pain killers and set us up an appointment early and took great care of her. The medicne we thought made her nauseus and the Doctor gave her some more stuff to help and we called lt an evening. I put her to bed with an appointment for surgery next wednesday.

About 2:15 Friday morning I had to call an ambulance after she had a hellistic seizure bit her lip, blood pouring out her mouth and breathing like she was dieing, and scared the piss out of me. It took forever to get the ambulance here it seemed , but I've never seen Lexington County Hospital move as quick, and she was in surgery by 6:15 for a sublateral hematoma. They shaved half her head , cut a hole to get the blood out, and put her back together.

I want to thank everyone for the prayers. It seemed a bunch of angels gathered around her and have taken wonderfull care of her. We hope she will be out of the hospital early in the week and she will still get the surgery on her ankle on wednesday, but it will take a few weeks for her to get back on her feet.

My point to this post is lately I see and hear of a lot of people not taking advantage of every second they have to their fullest. Don't think a second you are promised another day or minute. Life is short and sweet

But I want you to know how much I admire the ones that give and live like maybe one day we will live in paradise, and know that family or friendships, like some I've made here , is all that really matters.

:D :D :D

Sorry to hear that, thank God she is doing better. I guess there's no roller derby in her future? Seizures are scary things. My son has had four and it's no fun to watch. ANd they could be fatal. Hope she makes a full recovery. Hope your band(s) do well also...

I remember reading about some of this on FB. I'm so sorry to hear about all of this. I know about ankle surgery as well, because last summer I had an operation. The main thing for her to do is believe, and have faith that she will get through this whole ordeal. She will be alright. My prayers continue for her, and you as well.

I hear what you're saying about life, and living it to the fullest. As of Mar. 26 of this year, I actually lost a good friend. It hurt me, but it made me realize that I need to enjoy every moment I can. That's all we can do here. There's no need to sweat the small stuff at all.

Hang in there my man! The situation can only get better from here.

It takes a lot of faith, an awful lot of courage to see your loved ones helpless and suffering, perhaps even defeated. We don’t need to look far in ourself to see that one of the strongest qualities we have is our inner strength. From what you say, you will have no problems. Sending good thoughts your way.

I'll be praying for her and for you.
Our rehabilitation unit provides care for more and more stroke and closed head injury patients, we are not just orthopedic anymore.

Now to be a little blunt ... forgive me, it's the only way I know how to communicate effectively.

Watch her and her care providers closely.
You / she is far from being " out of the woods ".
CHI recovery is slow and painful. She will likely display behaviors you have never seen from her.
This will require the patience of Job on your part.

Was the team doctor aware of her symptoms ??
If I can, in just reading this, recognize symptomology of a bleed.
HE SHOULD HAVE TOO !

When my wife was in her last MVC I had to threaten the doctor to get him to do a CT of her head.
Fortunately it was negative.

Insist that they do follow up CTs or MRI on her to insure there is no continuation or recurrence of her bleed.
( Are you sure that was not " subdural hematoma " ??? Most common is the subdural with subarachnoid being a little less common. Uni lateral indicates one side or the other with bilateral being both sides, terminology can vary from hospital to hospital, but it sounds a little off in my experience, and it makes a big difference in the recovery process )

I wish I was there to help ... ( I'm pretty good at this stuff )
At any rate, I'll have y'all in my prayers daily & if you have questions or just need a sounding board you know where I am.

Thanks for all the prayers and good vibes. I appreciate them a lot !

Your correct with the subdural part there George as I have only been able to rest a little here and there through all of this. I realize she is far from being out of the woods yet. The team Doc didn't know about her fall last sunday and I don't blame him a bit for not catching this. it was like a perfect storm a lot of things happened in such a short time.

Do rest when you can. You and she will need you to be as strong as possible.

God speed and bless my friend.
