I have Dial up networking. It is incredibly slow. It often gets dropped because it it is on the same link as my phone line. My posts are usually about instant, unless I'm up loading a picture. That takes about 1/2 hr. if I'm not dropped... each picture. I've already stated why I don't have high speed (due to being in the country and being too cheep to get a satellite link. I have found that I don't get dropped as much if I close all tabs not needed for before I upload. I need to upload sound clips. I dread that. First, I only have a digital camera to record live action or sound with. I got that last summer. My main investments have not been in my computer, even though I've spent 4 digits on it since January. I now have some bugs worked out, and my next digital target will be to upload sound clips. My apologies to anyone waiting to see if my alligator mouth matches my licks and chops ass.

Ah, don't worry about it. Most peoples alligator mouths don't match their licks and chops around here (some more than others) so you have nothing to loose. Dial up does suck though.

Same here. My line modem sucks. I always have to write what I am going to say in an e-mail on a scratch pad, then copy and paste it before my line shuts down. Most of the time it operates at a mind blowing 44Kbps.

44kbps. Got me beat brothah. I feel for ya, man. Get ready, I'm about to Vent! I also don't have cable TV. Not available. I got a 160 radius roof antenna. When "free tv went digital, everyone bought a new tv. Those of you that did, ever feel suckered into buying what you wouldn't have had to if the free tv hadn't went digital. The Govt. says they made those available to emergency response networks. Here's my challenge to anyone in America, take the digital box off your analog tv, wired any way you had wired before-Yeah, you still have your hook ups, because who would buy them). Next, anyone in the contiguous United States, Can You Receive a signal from anything other than pirate tv. You won't find emergency response signals anywhere, and all THAT money went to TV factories everywhere around the world Except the U.S. Thank you Mitsubishi, Toshiba, and others that have stolen technology from our country's companies investments to digital technology that put them out of business. Rest in peace Techneglass, Columbus, Ohio, The first commercial makers of the cathode ray tube,(TV)

my problem isn't my server or puter, it's my puter illiteracy. It took me eight hours to figure out how to upload four of my songs on my profile.

I have programmed in six languages and know my way around bloody computers. It's my blankety blank recording issues that are driving me nuts. I can't get my stuff into a downloadable wave file from my pocket studio and I've been too stupid thus far to get Audacity to multitrack my stuff. yeah...I'm frustrated.

The sales clerk laughed out loud when I went to purchase a 'tape' recorder. As John Wayne once said, "things change..." Yep. And Talbot is playing catchup!

Meantime I've figured out how several new amplifiers work - much fun but time - "...ask of me anything but time!" (said Napoleon)

I'd like to have some time to just play!

Now I shall go eat a piece of cheese to go with that whine...

mike,
I'm no recording pro either. I had a cakewalk program and it was way over my head. Never could understand it. So I got a zoom1608 with a cd burner. That's what I used to record the songs on my profile. I'm starting to get the hang of it. It's a lot easier than computer programs.

Took me 1hr to download 1 song from rjhangover. The song was "Jesus" and worth a listen to. If he doesn't mind me saying so it brings to mind Arlo Guthry, Bob Dylan and Dr. hook rolled into one. :D

Hey crunch, thanks for the review. Glad you liked the song. I'm just learning the pedal steel. My friend that played on LIFE ON THE HOBO inspired me to learn. It'll be a while before I'm that good. Never been like'nd to Dr. Hook before. I have been told I do sound like Bob Dylan though. We both sound like a dog with his hind leg caught in a barb wire fence, is what they tell me.

Never lik'nd to Dr. Hook?
