With this new band I'm in ALL band members are pursuing gigs. I've been in too many bands where I was the only one trying to get gigs. It's nice to have everybody on the same team taking personal initiative. That will help us forge ahead...

Bob, I have to say it is nice, because often it is that one guy that's doing all the work. Good on ya!

It's been that way with us all along Bob.

Don't understand why anyone would want it any other way.

Don't know how I didn't see this topic earlier: That's really cool Bob! You guys can get a lot done in a shorter amount of time without anyone burning out. Where there's structure, there's progress for sure.

You might want to check out a book I'm almost finished reading:The Indie Band Survival Guide by Randy Chertkow & Jason Feehan. It has a lot of cool links and a lot of good advice. If anything, it's a good refresher course. Over 300 pages of coverage.

That book strongly recommend's this book:Be Your Own Booking Agent:THE Musician's & Performing Artists's Guide to Successful Touring by Jeri Goldstein. Apparently, this book really helps out with booking alone(not that you don't know what you're doing).

If you want a list of places to play...etc., then go to:indiebandsurvivalguide.com

Thanks for the tips Kruliosis. My sister is a musician in Connecticut and she recommended the same book and website. Haven't checked it out yet but will. We've got one of the best agents in America. Booking us won't be much of a problem (I hope). If the three of us stick together we won't have to worry about gigs, they'll come.

Bob Im so happy that your band is going the way you want it to go! That is great! I know you were frustrated for a long time trying to find a group like this.

Good Luck and Keep On Rockin!

Bob,

I always preferred working with just bass drums and lead. In 12 years of gigging I only worked 4 pieces (Added steel guitar) a few times. But that was real nice too. Just because I didn't have to work so hard and I could change my pickin style.

I like your vocals and would like to hear more.

I really like the songs you have on Bandmix, but I want to hear your new band. Not a face book, twitter, or any of that social network crap so Bandmix is the only place I can hear your songs.

Slacker, we'll be going into a studio within 4 months, possible sooner. While tunes are fresh and sounding good it's imperative to get into the studio. Funny, we've been rehearsing some of the tunes so much that at this point it's almost like we are covering ourselves. Having that excited "new" sound reproduced in the studio ASAP is very important IMO. Hopefully we'll be at the studio soon. The other two players haven't as much studio experience as me. An EPK (electronic press kit) is very important as it is a must to get any decent gigs. That's one of our next goals....

Looks like you guys shouldn't be stopping at KFC, and McDonalds so much when out looking for gigs. Whatever happened to image?

If somebody can't get past the image of a band or musiciian to the point that it's more important than the music I feel sorry for them. I'm a big person, deal with it...

Well Bob, it's not like the kind of music you play is for pretty boys with soft hands.
