Oh Klug, help the kid out a little more than that.

First of all, sweets, if you're gonna play and sing, you need to practice, practice and practice some more because you're guitar is out of tune for starters and second, you really need help with your timing because you slow down and speed up constantly through the song. Plus your voice is a off key in the beginning.

The second song with the electric guitar is just all wrong.

They have potential, but really, if you're going to put yourself out there, you need to raise some cash and hire a producer to do you right. You got to pay to play nowadays so that means getting a day job or something so you can pay to get a decent demo because potential doesn't cut it these days. There's too many kids with their rich parents who will blow you out of the water with production.

So if you're gonna get in this game, you have to play hard ball and do it right.

Good luck to you.

A bit of Ani Defranco maybe?
First song was tough to get through. A bad recording will turn people off. So unless you fix it maybe dump it for now and post another song.
Good Luck

Hey Chay,
The only difference between what you did and what I did was you
meticulously pointed out all the major flaws that I avoided saying.
Actually I think I was easier on her than you. You even told her to
get a job ha ha ha.

This is because you are a woman and women tend to be more vocal
than men. Mars - Venus thing. If I got meticulous, I would have
hurt her feelings and yours I think :). [/b]

How so? Okay, maybe I insulted her in case she has rich parents, but hey, you said it was "unlistenable." Ha ha, that's cold, dude.

I gave her some good pointers, I think, at least I didn't tell her she was a lost cause like I've considered that other chick who's been on here who is just totally clueless to the fact that she just doesn't have a good singing voice.

think I'll side with Klugmo on this one. Cheya (bless her heart) is willing to lend a teaching moment, but what lesson was given?

Let's compare:
Klugmo: "unlistenable"

Cheya:
"The second song with the electric guitar is just all wrong"
"your guitar tuning is wrong"
"your timing is off"
"don't quit your day job"

If music is a combination of rhythm and musical notes, both of which are missing, then Klugmo just summarized Cheya before Cheya tuned in

8)

To be fair to Junkyard Angel - practice your timing to a metrinome and or drum/machine and get a voice teacher. You'll do better than 1/2 the folks out there if you just do those two things - good luck!

A one-word review is not what anyone wants to hear. If you're going to take the time to listen to someone's music and write a review or offer advice, the least you could do is write a complete sentence. Or perhaps you'd like a one word review heh heh?

and "you're out of tune", "you have no rythm" and "get a day job" are what someone wants to hear. lol.

SirJams, you seem to think what I meant to Klug was being nice, I said nothing about being nice, I just said give her more than "unlistenable."

If you're guitar is out of tune, you're out of tune, buy a tuner, they're cheap.

If you're off key, you're off key, there's no other way to say it. Find the grove!

You're timing is off, it's off. Like you said, buy a metronome and practice. You didn't mention all the other advice I gave her such as she had potential, did you? No, you just gave your jacked up summary which was "all wrong."

Yes, her guitar on the second song was all wrong, the timing, little rhythm, vocals off and mumbling. It ain't right.

And you just totally blew my comment about work to smitherins in saying she shouldn't play music. I said: get some money and hire a producer and get a worthwhile demo. I don't care if you get your rich Uncle Harry, a boyfriend, stripping, or you're sitting on the Count of Monte Cristo's stash, if you're a musician, don't post some lame ass music up on Facebook and expect to get fans. Get a producer and get it recorded correctly. Producers are everywhere. You can find a producer faster than you can get a band together and many of them will work for cheap. I didn't tell her to quit the music business, as you were suggesting I pretty much told her.

The girl has potential, I said it.

Sir, what Chaeya wrote is exactly what needed to be said. There was nothing malicious about it at all, simply the truth. And I'm sure JA can and will use the advice to her advantage. If you don't have a day job and you're trying to do music you are just fooling yourself. It takes money and lots of it to make music. Your misquotes help no one; if you're going to quote someone make sure you quote what they said or wrote.

What you just said was "lame ass music"

I was told when I was younger that I wrote "Peter Paul & Mary sh*t"

I will never forget it. It hurt me deeply.
If she belongs in the music world she will react the way I did
and make that hurt a motivater. You guys know nothing is easy and
if you dont have much good to say then don't say much.

It was unlistenable.

Listen she's been listening to music all her life. She knows good from
bad music for Gods sake. This isn't a place to be coddeled.

This is what righties do. Misquote and quote out of context. Pick and choose sentence fragments to try and make their weak points. Lame, very lame.

This is just another disincentive to post your own music on Bandmix. At least what I posted is over 15 years old and was supposed to be noisy and atonal.
