Yes it is, as always. Looks as though bandmix is working for a lot of people here recently and want to congradulate you for your success.

I've been busier than a one armed wall paper hanger myself. This past sunday I enjoyed the fourth practice with a new band I met from bandmix. They were looking for a bass player and being a frustrated guitar player decided to give it a try. Well it doesn't take long playing with a few people to know if things might click and there 's a possibiity things might go your way. Everybody plays guitar and bass and likes to take turns doing different things and that has been the most enjoyable thing I have noticed. Seems everyone is on the same page as far as what we want to accomplish. We have already put about 30 songs together and most are covers but a few original tunes have rarely sounded better with as little work as we have put on them. So there comes the point of my post. I recently aquired a Zoom HD Q-3 video recorder and want you to know I think its worth its weight in gold. The video is good but the sound is great. I reorded the last couple of practices to see what it might sound like and was impressed at the quality of the sound we recorded. So much I want to upload a tune or 2 for my friends here at bandmix. The thing is I worry about their policies of covering tunes { if there is one } and how it might effect posting it through U Tube. Then I also want to post an original that we did for the second time and get some feedback on it . But I want to remove it about as soon as I put it up for personal reasons. So I ask you before I post them , are there any things I need to worry about before I post them, or should I wait ?

Congratulations first off.

Secondly ... I find myself these days saying " It's another day in paradise " more and more frequently.
I sounds a lot better than "oh f*#K" coming out of my mouth when things are not going so well and I believe I have you to thank for that.
As far as the legalities.
I trust to fate.

Alot of folks seem to have covers on their page. I don't think you would have a problem there. I can't imagine any band having a problem with it as long as you were not trying to profit from their music, without paying the royalties.

Be aware that if you post original music, and you don't want it ripped off, you might want to make sure it is copyrighted first. All of ours is, and I would not post it if it wasn't. Of course, depending on how serious you are about your music, this may not matter to you.

If you do post some jam, I'll be looking forward to hearing your band!

Hey, 1collaborator, I was just checking out the photos on your page.... What's the story with the beaver? Can you hunt those in S.C.? Up here in Michigan, I would be giving up my hunting rights and paying huge fines for that.

(Actually, I was just going to say "Nice beaver" but, then I thought about all the ramifications of that)........

Congratulations, #1! I love a happy BM story...

I had more than one cover tune posted on my profile, to exemplify my ability. Never had any trouble with it. If I were you, I'd simply go for it, too. It's good to share our accomplishments with our friends, & doubt that anyone save Metallica would begrudge you that.

You guys make me feel good early on a morning when works been so slow i can barely find enough cleaning around the house tokeep my boys busy. I thought after Nov and Dec things were looking up. I'm a true believer in optomistic karma And want to think even a bad day for me has got to be better than a lot of guys are having. I am working and living in Paradise .

I'm going to post a few up real quick. They are from the third and fourth practices withthese guys. I have played with the drummer on one occasion, and never with either guitar player so you might understand why I like what I'm hearing so much. It's not perfect by any means yet., but it will get better.

Those damn beavers aggravated me for at least 6 months. They moved into my pond and started tearing up every tree around it. I called about having someone remove them and found out they would only kill them for 2000.bucks . So I took care of themm myself. As long as they are causing property damages the DNR can,t do anything about it. I had to remove 16 trees cause of those bastards. Now I have a river otter who moved in abot 2 months ago but he is welcome and a playfull and beatifull animal. I live in the middle of the city , but am blessed having a great place only a cple hundred yards off the lower saluda river.

Thats enough of the BS so I'll get to trying to post you a video for later today,

#1, Ive kinda been in the market for a good video recorder, whats the pros and cons of the Zoom you are using and rough price point.

I really would like to get a video up of my band, but the ones we have are so bad sound wise that they embarass me.

Thanks have a Great Day and Remember To Smile, it might just be the best part of someones day!

One way;
Any camcorder with a mic input, you can use the headphone jack on your mixing board or send a line out using the monitor/aux sends on the board. Just make sure everyone is miked.

or

Play along with the recorded music and then replace the audio track on the video with the studio recording.

JW I paid about 300 bucks for the camera and an acc kit. Its a pretty simple thing to use as my other dig cameras can be a pain to get a video off of. But the Zoom comes with some rather cheesy software that's real simple. Trimming the videos and filing them were very simple. And has effects like reverb and mastering that helps if the sound doesn't suit you The pictures come out great but you have to make sure the lighting is sufficient. It fits into my shirt pocket. It uses standard SD and SDHC cards. I get about 3 hrs on a 8 gig card @ 720 X 30 resolution. I haven't tried the best settings yet. but I think you have to hook up to a HD receiver to get that pic anyway. I don't think they sell a HD DVR yet The acc kit came with a power supply and any cable you need to connect something. I bought a rechargeable battery kit at wally world for about 10 bucks as it uses 2 aa batteries and they last about 2 and a half hrs. I set mine up on a tripod in the corner as it has the adapter for a tripod. I've been using mine a lot on the job as well. I can take a video of the job and show my boys what they have to do or fuss about something they haven't done, and its small enough not to get in the way. I hope it holds up quality wise though . And only time may tell. It takes a long time to upload a video to u tube as I started a hour ago and its only gone about a third of the way. But that might be my DSL connection. I asked in a thread I made in another post about the camera and a keyboard I was wanting but I got no results so I must be one of the first to buy this thing. Overall I've been very pleased with it. All of the reviews at MF were 5 star.

#1, this is #2, sorry thats an old BM joke

Thanks for the info on the Zoom, that sounds like something I need. Sounds simple enough to me, small enough to lug around and cheap enought that when I lost it I wont have a cow!

Have a great day
