. . . for those that care.
.
It's called "Sliding Rock."
.
It's light rock;
I was surprised that Bandmix doesn't recognize "Rock" as a style of music?
????
The closest thing they listed was 'Classic rock," which this song is definitely NOT.
Get WITH it guys . . . geeezzz . . . most the guys on this site are rockers . . .

Not bad, the singer has a pleasant enough voice, but the song gets repetitive and needs a bridge or at least a different chord sequence for the chorus. The lyrics need to be stronger as well; 6 out of 10.

I like it.
Classic Alan Bradly Group :D

As far as Bandmixes list of Genre'

We should be able to write our own.

Too simply call most of our music "Christian Contemporary" is a miss by a mile.

We're a God Rock band ... it's what we do.

Nice little melody but lyrics are a little bland and choppy.[/b]

Like I said - 'light rock.'
And - like I said - definitely NOT classic rock.
It's the only song of this style we do.
I Will NOT write a song that sounds like 1000 other sings . . .
A lot of you guys may not like this style of music, but we always get a great crowd response to the is song.
Even if someone here give's it a "D,"
Hey - maybe it doesn't sound like what you're used to.
Well - GOOD! Expect a lot more songs that sound different than what you're used to.
Too much like 'pop' (gasp!) for your taste, maybe?
I don't WANT it to sound the same, ok?
And the lyrics are SUPPOSED to be choppy. That makes it different - and very popular, also, by the way.
We always get a great crowd reponse to this song - but we don't play it in places that play heavy metal or hard rock.
That's not us, and it never will be.
.
We were asked to perform this song live on the radio.
.
I trust the DJ's opinion more than the self-appointed music critics here. I don't recognize their authority to criticize a very successful song.
The DJ knows what people want to here.
If you don't like it - change stations.
.
Hey - no song will appeal to everyone. But that doesn't make the song bad. It's all a matter of opinion. And the opinion of several crowds is way agains the nay-sayers here.
.
I don't need anyone's approval to post a song that has been tried and true and repeatedly proven popular, always getting a great crowd response.
.
If I listened to everyone else's advice as to what a song 'needs,' - then the group would sound just like 10,000 other groups: "average."
.
Too many cooks spoil the broth.
You write your songs, and I'll write mine, - thank you very much.
Like I said - "for those who care . . ."
.
Thanks, Sans.
At least ONE person here likes it.

We're adding a harmonic track to this song, btw. That's scheduled in four recording sessions down the line, though.
Just finished backup male vocal tracks for 3 songs.
Next up is to record lead female vocal tracks for 4 songs.
After that is the harmonica for 2 songs, this one included..
After that is the backup female vocalist on 2 songs.
And THEN - I FINALLY get to work on brand new music, again.
.
I copyrighted this song, "Sliding Rock," way back in, umm . . . 2006.
And I've just now got around to recording it . . . I learned the bass pattern for it the same day I recorded it.
Sigh - seems I very rarely have time to write new songs, lately . . . still learning parts for old songs . . .
Got 100 finished songs - half need to be recorded: guitar, bass, drums, average of 2 vocal tracks each. . .
Lotta work.

Well I guess we cared enough to listen to the whole track and give you our opinion. BTW I listen to a lot of jazz so I know what that style is supposed to sound like. I stand by my reply; nice voice, decent recording, average arrangement, bland lyrics.

The lyric isn't really all that important in a tune like this. It isn't an epic prog thing. It also isn't anywhere near to what I'd call, "rock," though it's pleasant enough to my ear.

I do notice a trend in your stuff, RM, that seems to transcend mere "style" to the point of near obsession. You seem to hate simplicity, preferring to use a plethora of chord changes & choppy rhythmic attacks, where fewer would certainly do, & sometimes fewer would add to the ambience that you seem to reach for, imho. (This doesn't necessarily apply to this particular tune, btw. i'm speaking in general, on what I've heard from your work.) There's also a tendency to use the same instrumentation & walking bass styles to the point that, sometimes, the songs almost seem interchangeable, in spite of the different meters, or keys, or vocal attack. The choppy rhythm work on tune after tune also gives this affect. (I realize that I haven't heard your entire catalogue, & can only comment on what I listen to on your profile page.) I rarely hear a sweep strum, & can't recall any electric work at all. The effects are also similar, giving the whole, that I've heard, a very monochromatic type of feel, in spite of your claims to playing so many different styles of music, because, though you may consider them each to be very, very different, to the average listener's ear, these attributes add up to them all sounding very much the same.

I am in no way degrading your music, understand. I am just pointing out that, if you want the songs to all sound like different styles, & to stand out on their own, perhaps you could try to experiment with some other ways of presentation.

And, as I said - I haven't delved that deeply into your catalogue of work.

RM, thou not my particular style of music I love that be-bop swing feel it has. I didnt really pay a lot of attention to the lyrical content, sorry, but it has that happy open air feel that makes me feel happy, if that makes sense.

This past week my GF and I went to Hot Springs Ark and in the lobby of the Arlington hotel they had a band doing this style of music. Makes me want to get up and dance or move, so really good job.

Im in agreement with Jimmy, to my ears and this is just my opinion which may matter or not to you, but I just kept waiting for some sort of bridge to happen, for me it just breaks a song up some, no biggie to me either way, but I was going to just make that one comment, but Jimmy beat me to it, but i think it needs something a little different in the middle of it

I havent listened to much of your music in a while, but you are very accomplished acoustic guitarist, i envy that cause I rely too much on my fuzzz pedal, LOL When I did acoustic gigs a couple of years ago I was always wanting a pedal to stomp, LOL. But man you sound great!

Your welcome RM.

You have a very distinctive sound, or perhaps a flavor would be more appropriate, to your creations.
Much like us you have "your sound" even when the songs have a different feel.
It's cool ... I really have grown to appreciate it more over the last few years as I study dynamics more and more.

It's the kind of tune I could put on in my shop while I'm working round in there.
An ambiance, pleasing.

Looking forward to more.

I've been away a few days - did over 25 hours of recording and editing in the last 3 days . . .
Recorded female lead tracks, a bass track or two, did some singing, remixed a harmonica track or 2 . . .
.
It was nice to stop in and find that several people like this song.
. . . it's 'Smooth Jazz?'
Oh, well - hmm - maybe you're right . . .
.
Thanks RGMIx, you said, "I can hear why a ton of people like this song. Its a great feel good song feel good lyrics and just a dam good feel good song.
I am a real softy for a walking bass."
.
To me the most important thing about this song - or any song is it's overall 'feel,' the emotion.
Glad that several of you guys picked up on that . . . nice comments.
.
Thanks.
.
Someone mentioned that the guitar sounds a lot alike from song to song.
Well, besides playing a lot of chords - I play all acoustic.
.
All the recordings are done - and will continue to be done - on acoustic guitar, with no effects, except for a little reverb.
.
We can play this song acoustically, with no amplification - and it sounds the same.
.
And - yeh - expect more stacatto rhythms from me . . .
.
I'd post more, but I have to keep erasing songs to post new ones . . . that's why I went to Reverbnaion . . . got over a dozen songs posted there . . .
.
Anyway - I LOVE music!
