If anybody here listens to Country music. Have you
noticed how they mix now? It sounds like all
guitar and drums. I like the way they use harmonizers
with the lead and bg vocal then use one real voice over it
to fool your ear to believe all you hear is real. Good trick.[/b]

I always preferred the "big" sound that Pete Anderson got with Dwight Yoakam's early recordings. Drums, bass, fiddle, guitar, and a wall of music coming at you when they played live.

In Country there are so many lead instrument possibilities.
The sound men really have their hands full. They must know
all the songs intricately.[/b]

Not really relevant ... but.

When we finally found an Engineer whom understood what the band sound is, and could reproduce that.

Then we were happy.

Much of modern country is all about trying to sound like classic rock, but, in most cases, they do it poorly.

The temptation to "crossover" and gain a bigger audience is tempting and that's why Nashville sounds like classic rock with a nasaly twang. I've heard many people say true country is gone.

Perhaps some are.

But there are plenty of "pop" country acts just like there are plenty of "pop" rock acts. ( pop rocks LOL )

To chase a popular sound / look, in order to ride someone else coat tail, is a common phenomenon in many of life endeavors.
Every other kid I see in town has a "beeber" haircut.

Then ...
I suppose my search of a "classic " rock guitar tone is as much a part of that phenomenon as anything else.
