I guess I am going to say more. I was flipping channels tonight and there was the grammies. Against my better judgement I stopped to listen to a few "songs." I forget which ones (Rihanna? Dre?) but they were drivel. Nobody thirty years from now will even remember what they are. The grammies is a meat market program. The main concern is what everybody is wearing. As far as the "music" is concerned it's drivel. Pure unadulterated drivel. Sorry, I said too much already...

Well that’s one man’s opinion which I tend to agree with, like any other generation big record labels target the most receptive demographic of the music produced today IE. Young people who most of them have not been exposed to the glory of the yesterday’s music.
But rather than the quality of the music or the fashion on display at the Grammies the big news is that an Indi band signed by an obscure Canadian label walks away with the biggest prize leaving all the big labels in the dust in spite of all the promotional power at their disposal.
This is encouraging to all Indi music producers and anyone who can write and perform music… this says the door to success is open to everybody in touch with today’s musical vibe.
Too bad there are no award shows dedicated to retro style of music, I’d throw my hat in there.

Congrats to Jeff Beck (3) and Arcade Fire (Album of the Year).
Just when you think Bob Dylan can't sound any worse...

In spite of the Grammys, I am pleased to note that there is still good quality music being produced. Here's a news release for Cake's latest effort:
"We're number one!! CAKE's independently released Showroom Of Compassion album has debuted at number one on the Billboard Charts this week and it's all your fault. CAKE would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the listeners who have supported our work for all these years."
Their new album was released on Jab 19, in the #1 position, without industry backing. They recorded it in their own solar-powered studio.
Yep, Indy music can be a huge force, when the act in question is unique, & produces solid, memorable material.

Right On...Right On.....I forced myself to watch the whole thing. It was difficult and I got madder and madder. Then that happened. That outcome
made this year's Grammies more tolerable than many in recent years in which ALL the awards went to soulless, ballsless, pre-fab bullshit.
Cheers......Cristofe

Ah, it wasn't that bad, even though Folk and Country seemed to be quite prevalent.
Here it is, the Chaeya Summary:
(1) Mick Jagger should've sang "Dancing in the Streets" - nuff said. He could be stuffed down in a wheelchair like Steven Hawking and I'd still dance to that.
(2) Christina Aguilara bounces when she falls.
(3) I swear Miranda Lambert's brown dress was edible or maybe I was just going through chocolate withdrawals.
(4) Rhianna broke in my house and stole my bag of scrap material
(5) I was disappointed when Bob Dylan didn't hock a lugie during the middle of his set.
(6) John Mayer didn't get my written permission to look like Johnny Depp. That rather puts me out.
(7) I think Nicki Menaj should become the new Oscar, one that talks, every time you pass it, it says "You only as good as your last movie!"
(8) Respect the fact that Eminem admitted to using Rhianna to get some record sales. That's right, grab those young stars and USE THEM!!!
(9) The producer of the show was a pyromaniac. I like that!
(10) No one has met my challenge of accepting their grammy with "I want to thank Satan, the Lord of Darkness . . ."
(11) Congratulations to Esperanza Spalding for winning, she so had me at the big hair alone.
(12) Nice try to Lady Gaga's necromonger booty dress, but she still didn't take out Prince's assless pants from ten years ago.
and lastly
(13) Thank you Arcade Fire for the epileptic fit you gave me while watching your performance. After carefully disecting the footage of the strobes we found an implanted code which brainwashed the judges to give them Album of the Year.

Arcade Fire was a joke. I think that was the second "song" I tried to listen to. It was utter, pure garbage, I turned it off after a minute or so...I think of some of the fine bands I've had the pleasure of playing in over the years, considering myself fortunate to have done a fair number of paid gigs over the years, and then I witness useless crap that is netting people MILLIONS. They never said the music business was fair...

That useless crap is surely not netting the MUSICIANS "millions," though...
