The Star-Spangled Banner curse, the last one to succumb to it is Cristina Aguilera who gave one of the worst renditions of the national Anthem in prime time… who will be next?

Craig Maxim should have sung it...Christina Aguilera and Blackeyed Peas at the same Super Bowl? You would think they could dredge up a little better talent than that...

It's a pop culture thing Bob. A bunch of out of touch old geezers trying to attract young people to the NFL as their old audience dies off.

Sure anyone can screw up in a live performance.
But it's inexcusable IMO for a so called "professional" like Christina Aguilera.

Personally I think shes a putz.
A rich pop queen putz.
But still a putz.

Yeah I think Paul should have sung it. At least he would have worn a better dress. :)
Seriously, she must have had some sort of a major brain fart, the words are easy until you get to the 2nd and 3 verse.
Oh well, at least the JETS didn't have to stand around listen to that.

Sneaky! At 2:08-9 The classic country break in your voice into the word home is the dead giveaway. Dude you have a great voice! And now I know a great first name too!

My band did a gig for this ultimate fighting thing. We played at the firs tof the event and then again in the middle.

So it was time for the National Anthem and the promoter had lined up some one that didnt show up. He asked our singer to do it, and I was thinking oh sh*t, But Kevin nailed it, not much of that vocal hystronics that many singers feel they should do. He did it pretty much straight up and killed it. He would be better than most of the versions Ive heard of people.

I mean come on people this is a very tough vocal song to do. Different people do their take on it and some take some huge libertys with it. I actually enjoyed the superbowl version, other than her word slip, but in retrospect she was professional and covered it well, and then after it was over apologized for her slip.

I know this is a music site and stuff gets ripped to threads but Im humble enough to know I couldnt do it anywhere close, and I am in awe fo people that cover it. I always felt judge not others unless you want to be judged.

I am of the opinion that, if the average guy on the street can't sing your national anthem, it smacks of elitism.

I hate that song. It means very little to me. Every phrase within it ends with a question mark, & that is no way for a country to celebrate itself. It also really bugs the living hell out of me that the melody was STOLEN! Could we not do better than this?

For a country of entrepreneurs, of creative genius, that's so proud of its contributions to the world at large, the Star Spangled Banner is a very poor example of what we are, & what we do, & what we have achieved. In fact, it seems to promote that feeling of general paranoia that so many of our citizens wallow in, these days - WILL that flag still fly over this land of the free & home of the brave, tomorrow?

BLEAGH!

Gimme something with a little pride, & a bit of substance in it!
