Music topics would be nice.
However, there is usually just rants and raves.
Stories are cool dont get me wrong, and its even better to hear a story about someone on the road. But when we just sit in here and debate politics, and attack each other, it gets us no where, and surely isnt music related.

I come in here every once in a while and try to get a music thread going, but no one replies, they are more interested about what someone they dont even like said.

I've been here for a while, and it's been the same thing for years. Guys, honestly, if there is something wrong on the internet, then its just a normal day. By replying to things you think are wrong, you jut encourage them to do it again. It would be nice if people acted their age on this site.

I would really like to discuss music with fellow musicians, but I cant find a site to do that in. Everyone is too self righteous and all knowing to say anything helpful. It would be nice if this site was different.

Im not looking for faster chat, or more musicians, Im looking for exactly what I said. A music thread on a music site. I've posted them in the past but they never work. Politics are more interesting to musicians than music.

Im on talkbass.com as well, and its the same nonsense over there.

MyMusicSpot has a guitarist user group. I posted some stuff about guitars I have and am interested in.

I own crap guitars. But, that's okay, cuz I like to tinker with 'em and wouldn't want to mess up a really nice guitar.

I like the weight and feel of Les Pauls. But, I like the balance of offset waist guitars like Jaguars & Jazzmasters. So, I'll probably build Les Paul-ish guitars shaped like Jazzmasters.

I like the samurai sword style headstock on Zachary Custom Guitars, much sturdier than angled ones.

I like a "medium V" style neck, lind of Stevie Ray Vaughn-ish.

I like long necks and hate plain paper-thin strings. So, I'm probably gonna go baritone with most of 'em.

I rewrote the "Jimmy Page Les Paul Schematic" to include four push-pull pots, a six-way toggle, and swappable pickups, to maximize tone variants of Seymour Duncan P-Rails & other pickups. The "Mike Nobody Jimmy Page Les Paul" wiring scheme will probably become standard on all my guitars.

Music and musicians have always been on the fore of politics and religion because for most, music is a form of emotional expression.

When there is very little going on musically (like now) things tend to stray into other areas.
We would all (well maybe not Scratchy)prefer to be talking about music but the industry has bled its self with their cookie cutter approach to signing artists and people just aren't spending on it anymore.
We just has the lowest total receipts for a #1 in sales in history.
Not to mention the economy is in a wreck.

So if you'll post on music I'm sure you will get "some" replies, but not like it used to be... nothing is like it used to be.

I post mostly about music but the truth is very few respond. So I may post an occasional non-music topic or respond to someone else's non-music post, and it may get much more attention. Do I care? No. I have a few friends here and have even done some collabs but really this is just a place to park my music.

I got a ? for you, if someone is on a classified or connections site and it's to find musicians or a band etc.. Why don't they have a recording,video or link to give the interested party an idea of what they "sound" like?
Not trying to be a smart-arse. I just don't get that. That's the first thing I look for.
I'm new here and i didn't come here to talk polotics or religion. Music is plenty for me.

This place is like a biker bar.

The discussions don't revolve around Hogs all the time. Not everyone likes each other (mostly because they miss-read whats posted), and not everyone hates the current president, administration, or evil corporation.

It'd be a lot more fun if we could share girlfriends, but we all live too far from each other.

But when the topics gets into serious music discussion......well, then it's worth waitin' around and kickin' some ass to kill some time.

I one his cd One cloud and I highly recommend it.
Also I almost exclusively play a 6 string now. I feel I am too limited by 4.
But once I understand the odd patterns of slap pop better, I'll probably migrate back to 4.

I used to have something up, it was a guitar part I transposed to 4 string bass. It was poorly recorded and unedited. I took it down because I didn't think it represented me well. I still get emails and phone calls often because of this site. The reason i havent put anything new up is because I feel that I can't find what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a supergroup where I'm the least talented (I'm the bassist after all!!!) But I can't seem to find many people who are 1. into prog or 2. able to play things well that arent in 4/4.

jimmydanger: whoa, im sorry to come off sounding like an attention whore. Popularity of my own post does not interest me. I'm interested in hear about peoples stories and experiences, tricks and tips. I'm a young musician and I strive to be the best I can. I want to collaborate and learn from fellow musicians. As Jordan Rudess said: I only wish I knew back then what I know now.

sanshouheil: everything is well my friend, I lurk in here a lot more than I post, so you may not see me but I see everyone else. Skipping the rest is generally what I do, and some weeks than might mean everything!

Eh...I ain't all about music. I will talk music, if & when I know what I'm talking about. But I also am into other things, & I find lots of subjects interesting. I like to share that stuff with my friends that I've developed here. It ain't no big deal...& I know I post prolly 3 out of every 10 posts about music, & the rest is ranting about stuff that makes me wanna rant, or I'll share something funny or bizarre. Sorry if it bugs ya, or others, but it's what I do.

For example - a friend of mine brought me a human skull for Xmas. The wife had a friend over this evening, who noticed it, & asked where it came from. My son told her I got it dumpster diving behind the ER at the hospital. Then she asked "It's DEAD, isn't it?"

See? Nothing musical...but kinda funny, if you ask me. I hope it brightened your day a bit.

You took a very vague post of mine very personally. I mean no will ill from this. I was just hoping to have more music discussions.
Music theory is interesting thats my point. And I rarely see anything about how things work.
