Saw them in 1973 and he already had a beard by then. We didn't know who they were but Billy and Dusty did a comedy routine as they played that was hilarious.

I didn't see them live until the 1979-80 Degüello tour, which I think is when they first unveiled the longer beards.

Was that the tour where they had the cattle roaming around on stage? I think that was the time frame.

I think the cattle tour was a bit earlier. There were some cacti strewn about, and all sorts of old west paraphernalia like wagon wheels and such on display (looked like the walls of one of those franchise steakhouse restaurants).

According to Wikipedia it was 2/24/77 at Cobo. For some reason I remember it being summer but I'm probably wrong.

Jimmy one of my first concerts was in either 75 or 76 at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, I think it was the 4th of july or there a bouts.
ZZ Top had a Bull and it seems like a buzzard in a tree, my thoughts on that time frame are kinda shakey
Skynyrd, I think Blue Oyster Cult and Marshall Tucker were on that bill
I dont remember the name of the tour, but they rocked, er er e r i think
