Have you/your band ever sold 1,000 cds? If so, how long did it take to sell them? Where did you sell them? What areas were your biggest fanbase? ETC...
Selling

First I would start local, shows and venues you do. Set a table up and have a good looking woman sell your CD's and T-shirts. Because you cannot sell on myspace, add a P.O. box or an address people can send to. CD BABY is a good place also. But remember you have to have a fan base for the music you are trying to sell to. As a drummer and a someone who manage bands in the past that is the best advice I can give you for now.

I doubt anyone on this board ever sold 1000 units.

You doubt wrong, why are you always so skeptical and negative. Is it that punker in you or what? Have you been burned to many times for lack of control and are now just bitter? whats up with that?

So you're saying you have? Prove it. I'm not bitter, I'm a realist.

Never sold 1,000 units. I sold more t-shirts than tapes or CDs. Sold recordings mostly in Japan.

We've already sold over 1,000 House Of Shark cd's. It hasn't been out a year yet, and we're about halfway through our second batch. Keep in mind though that we have given away an undisclosed amount. Doubt that number reaches 500 though.
SHOWS! That's where it's at. Play good and hard, people want to buy.

Yep, sounds like that's the only way to move your product out of the box.
What about Digital Downloads? Have they slowed sales?

Yea, they were never really all that strong. Most of those sales were people from Hawaii. Anyone can listen for free if they're just messin around on the computer. They're nowhere near our sales at shows. Hawaii tour coming up though. We leave Jan. 30th. We should do pretty good over there.

No, this is our first one Paul. We just advertised for it early. Apparently, it's been a good thing too. We have a lot of people eager to see us there. After we got nominated for the Hawaii Music Award, new shows came around. I can't wait man. 2-weeks in Hawaii? how bomb is that?

You and your band deserve this based on the merit of your songs and musicianship alone. Not to mention how cool you are. I assume you would only be in a band with cool guys like you. Rock it out bro!!
