Leaving the audience wanting more is the goal of every musician, unless you're a musician in violence-torn Mexico.

Two members of local group La Excelencia were murdered in a Guadalajara bar early Monday morning after refusing to play more songs past closing time, El Occidental of Mexico reported.

Jonathan Martinez, 22, and Gustavo Alejandro, 35, were pronounced dead outside the Vida Divina nightclub, gunned down by unidentified assailants with suspected ties to the country's notorious drug gangs.

A third victim, identified as bar patron Leslie Soltero, 26, was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to her ankle.

When La Excelencia's performance came to an end around 4 a.m. local time, four reportedly intoxicated and aggressive audience members demanded the musicians continue playing. Sensing trouble, the group extended its set by two songs, but was eventually forced to pull the plug by the bar's owner, according to El Occidental.

Out of nowhere, one of the instigators threw a grenade at the stage. The explosion injured one person and had panicked customers running for the exits.

Martinez and Alejandro were among those who fled the bar, but they were met at the front door by a hail of bullets, presumably from the same four men who had harassed them earlier.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the killers had already escaped by car. No witnesses were able to identify the getaway vehicle.

Not much different than playing the SPEAK EASY for the American / Italian mob in the 20's & 30's.

If your willing to take their ( sick violent criminals ) money. You might as well be prepared to have their psychosis spill over into your life too.

All the money making apparatus in Mexico. Much like here in the States is owned and operated by " cartels ". Drugs, alcohol, prostitution, you name it.

No different than here. Try to open a strip club anywhere in America and see if you don't get a visit from the Mob for their cut.

And I suspect the dope in Arizona was a Marxist whom hated Giffords because she was too "conservative".

That is the only postulation not verbalized by the Communist party's news agencies here in the US.

Aparrently he was/is a paranoid schizofrenic.
It was known for quite some time.
But people can not be involuntarily commited in order to get the help they need any more.
Not since the 70's.

His poltical leanings were 'Theyre all out to get me!'

I played on lower 4th street in this town for some time. Sioux City was actually called "Little Chicago" back in the old days.
Knife fights on the streets after closing were relatively common, and several times people brought guns into a couple of clubs where I worked. Shots were usually fired, so that's the only way the band knew the guns were out. However, no one was ever hit, and most shots went into the ceiling.

I'm really a bit irritated that the kook in Arizona was often implied to be a crazed pot smoker by some conservative radio hosts.

Yeah. Lets all toke up and grab our what?? Ummmm.. a.. refrigerator handles or snack bowls, if we don''t laugh ourselves to sleep on the couch?

Yup them damned pot smokers are a huge threat to society. Evidently, the only reference some talk show hosts have about pot is the infamous government film "Reefer Madness" where the guy gets wild eyed after a toke and holds his arms up in the air over his head, with his fingers forming claws as he chases an innocent bystander around the room.

I was backing up a piano player in a lounge act back in the earlyl sevenites in Altanta - the cat was extemely good. Have a fine version of the Exorcist them music.

We were taking a break and some guy said he'd like to hear it again. Jeff, the p-man said, "sure - right after our break." The dude pulled a forty five auto and set it on his table, "I'd like to hear it now," he said rather quietly.

Did we play it? Damn straight!

The origin of the phrase "Please don't shoot the piano player; he's doing the best he can" is from Oscar Wilde's tour of the Old West, during which he was alleged to have seen such a printed notice in a saloon in Leadville, CO.

LMAO tell me about it. I even heard Alex Jones call him a "pothead" on air. I have a lot of respect for Alex but how is he any better than the propagandists if he's going to use "ridiculous" and "inflammatory" statements like that?

I'll take a pothead over a square that never gets high if the threat is a violent person.

Potheads chill, nutcases kill!

I lost a lot of respect for Alex Jones when he hitched his wagon to the teabaggers and wore Joker makeup.

Alex could use a couple tokes and chill out himself.
