I'm not trying to start anything here, just a question; would Christians do the same for Muslims? better yet would Jews do the same for Muslims?

Christians do it all the time. Jews I do not know about thier missions and out reach so i can not speak to that.

These muslims are following the actual teachings in thier book:
Surat Al-Baqarah 2:62
Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

The Christians, jews and Muslims have a common origin. Father Abraham (Ibrahim) brings the faiith of God (Allah,YVWH, Jehova) to all his children and though the tribes, old and new, are sundered many still remember that.

Surat Al-Baqarah 2:152
They say, "Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided." Say, "Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

You see, there is some benefit to attempting to understand that which you do not follow... Read and understand without spite, judgement and ridicule. There are also places where certain Jewish and Christian ideas are ridiculed in the Qur'an but it is in the spirit of teaching what it sees as "right"... so the twisting of scripture for personal means is not the sole purvue of christians.

I can also cite many verses that admonish against taking Pagans, Christians and Jews as friends, partner and spouses before they convert. That still does not disolve the relationship between the faiths.

That's like asking whether whites would defend blacks if attacked by the KKK. It was the white people OPPRESSING the black citizens in the first place. But when they saw the violence play out on the news, against an unarmed crowd of black protestors, then many more whites rose up and supported the passage of the Civil Rights act. In this case in Egypt it was a similar process. The Christians were attacked by MUSLIMS in the first place, and THEN more mainstreak Muslims rose up, to defend the victims. People are ultimately just people, and have the same kinds of emotions and prejudice and fears and joys, etc... But old ways die slow and painful deaths, and there is often alot of violent opposition fighting the positive changes. Same wth racism in America in the past, and now with some Muslims pushing to be more mainstream. But, the old guard always fights the changes occuring.

I read it, Nav4c. I was trying to get you to answer your question because it seems pretty obvious that Muslims are having to protect others from Muslims, so the picture you paint of Muslims being the protectorate, willing to sacrifice themselves, is only portraying the ones you like - the ones being inconsistent with their doctrine.

People are people.
Some will act with conscience and justice.
Most will not.

Let’s face it no religion can claim of being consistent in its believe and as we are ready to condemn the bad deeds of one religious group, we should be just as ready to praise when a religious group does engage in a good deed.

Religions are split up into sects. Each with their own interpretation of scripture.

Islam is no exception. Not all Muslims want to kill us.

Christianity has a sects: Catholicism (which I was raised by), but, upon further inspection, and introspection, I now practice Buddhism, which also has sects......Zen being, in my estimation, the better philosophy.

If you can live by the Golden Rule, then you might find The Way.
There is only one sin, and that is "Theft."

We're talking about Muslims here - protecting non Muslims from other Muslims.

If you have a religion that says kill your neighbor, and you kill your neighbor, you are a consistent adherent of that religion.

If you claim to be an adherant of that religion, yet try to defend your neighbor against another adherent of that religion, then you are inconsistent with your profession.

I would say that the Muslims defending Christians, are either not Muslims, or they have a greater reason that will benefit Alah more by protecting the Christians for a time, because Christians, Jews, and atheists like yourself, unless you convert, are enemies of Alah.

Catholicism, though it uses terminology like "Christianity", rejects the Christian doctrine of salvation by grace alone, by redefining grace, and holding up the Pope's judicial infallibility, and declare quite definitively anathema on Protestant Christianity.

I would not classify them as just another denomination, based on their "infallible" decree of anathema on Christians who do not repent and return to the Catholic church's authority.

I would say that the Muslims defending Christians, are either not Muslims, or they have a greater reason that will benefit Alah more by protecting the Christians for a time, because Christians, Jews, and atheists like yourself, unless you convert, are enemies of Alah.
