Everybody has regrets about something they sold, traded, or gave away. What's yours?

My regret would be getting rid of my 80's Purple Burst Ibanez, and trading my Marshall JCM900 head.

Oh, Jeezus....EVERYTHING!

1960's era Silvertone Acoustic guitar
1970's Gibson Ripper bass
1970's Rickenbacker 4001 bass
1960's Guild Thunderbass amp
Mesa-Boogie Son of Boogie (SOB) amp
1990 Fender Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster
1972 Fender Telecaster Deluxe
etc., etc., etc.

Painful memories losing just those.

I had 2 custom 4x12 speaker cabs. They, for whatever reason at the time, had JBLs in them. I practically gave them away after having them in storage for 10 years of not playing. Woulda been nice to still have them.

I'm too young for this thread...

I haven't got rid of much gear... had a really shitty brandless bass amp that went to the curb (nobody even bothered to trashpick the damn thing)

Traded a beat up old OLP in for $70 off my Yamaha, and never looked back.

The only one I kinda miss is a sweet little bass multi effect pedal i used to use, mostly to give my OLD some semblance of tone. Yamaha's got too much punch and tone, it couldn't handle it. :P

Just wait Dizziz, just wait. That Yamaha will be the first on your list if you ever get rid of it. I know I would kick myself if I ever got rid of my Warwick...I hope I don't ever do that. Trades are always a temnptation though.

I can tell this thread is going to be painful to read. All the good stuff people let go of. They'll be singin' "Baby Come Back".

Among others:

1972 Strat
Epiphone acoustic
200 watt plexi Marshall head
100 watt Marshall half-stack
1976 Martin D-28
Fender acoustic

The only one I really regret selling was the Strat. That was the guitar I really learned to play on. But I've got another '72 now so it's all good.

Musically ??

I've got some stuff now I need to liquidate.
I just don't want to get screwed on the value.
One of these days I will have to have a " musical garage sale ".

'64 Vox 12-string...yeah...I gave it to a GIRL! (I wonder whatever happened to her?)

pre-CBS Twin Reverb. It needed gobs of work, but I sold it for a mere $100, back in '88, when I was trying to live on Workers Comp & not getting it. I only paid twice that for it back in '72 with money I scrimped & saved working in the tobacco fields as a kid.

My lil guitar Zoom pedal...I gave it to a student...

A lot of gear through the years. But most of all, the three 417 BH 12" Altec Lansing speakers I had in an amp I made. The greatest sound I ever heard coming from any speakers.. What the hell was I thinking? :(

I never let any piece of equipment. I had my first instrument with me in a car wreck. It was a lotus bass. The neck broke. I still have the body with the pickups in it. And the machine heads. That was nearly 10 years ago. When I find a neck I will put it back together. I get extremely attached to instruments once I have written a song with them. Like a hoarder gets attached really.

Owee! Half of that list are things I could only dream of having.

The piece I most regret letting go was my Ampeg violin neck bass (as in picture). That was a sweetie. But the truss rod had problems, i was broke and had a gig - swapped it for a Gibson EBO - the worst of all bass guitars I've ever owned.

I pretty much figured that everybody here would have posted something about this by now, especially more of the veterans here. Maybe too many hearts would bleed at the thought of their breakups. :P

MT, I feel your pain. I have never played a Gibson bass that I thought was worth playing...

Ohhh snap! Yeah, I haven't heard much hype about Gibson basses. Except some girls like the SG bass for it's small playing neck.

That Ampeg bass is another story!
