...& so it goes...

Is THIS how the year is supposed to start? I woke up sounding like a wheezing toad impersonating Wolfman Jack as I was floppin’ & bouncing’ around from room to room rasping out sentences like, “Where’s my pants?” & “Why do I sound like a frog?” & “What year is it?” & “Who’s president?” All of which was followed by much piggish grunting, unspellable syllables, & a long flow of words unsuitable for the gentlemen who read this, as I stepped on a few tiny toys in my sock-shod feets.

Now, see, in the old days, I used to be that upwardly attituded guy who would follow up such things with cheery little phrases like, “Yeah! Let’s get all that bad stuff outta the way on the first day!”

I’m not gonna be like that anymore. I’ve resolved to be a realist, this year, & I knew, even back then, that bad sh*t bodes more bad sh*t.

A hangover is a shitty way to start off ANY new endeavor, innit? ESPECIALLY a wine hangover! Why would anyone subject themselves to THIS, on the very 1st day of a year they hope & pray will be better than that piece o’ crap we just got over?

Which brings me to the point of it all - MY NEW YEARS’ RESTITUTIONS…er…RESOLUTIONS (The restitutions will be in separate e-mails, phone calls, & PM’s…)

My top 10 resolutions:

10.) To be more of a realist, tempered with a healthy dose of pragmatism

9. ) To never again tolerate substandard toilet paper in my house

8. ) To become less of me, since there has grown to be so much of me, over the years

7. ) I will learn to make the perfect pie crust

6. ) To read less, to watch less, & to do more

5. ) Yeah…that job thing

4. ) To use more safety pins

3. ) To be a little less concerned about the repercussions

2. ) To be a lot more open to all the possibilities

1. ) To do my best to keep my new-found pragmatic realism to myself, so as not to offend others.

Oh yeah - I almost forgot where I was for a sec - I NEED TO PRACTICE & PLAY MORE MUSIC!!!!!!!!

Just another day. For some reason I thought it Sunday when I awoke.
Got a head start on the music yesterday as I reintegrated the cry baby into my set up and practiced on the melodic minor leads for the newest NKF song.
Going to be a good year even if I have to pound it into submission.
No resolutions, just goals plans and tactics. 8)

Hung over? Yo ass! No one's fault but yours  .

I've had a total of two hangovers in my life, both work days. I just almost never get hung over. Nowadays, I can't drink much at all anymore. Ulcers cost me 1/3 of my stomach. Maybe hallucinogens would be healthier.

I'm always a realist. That's why people think I'm always negative.

I NEED TO PRACTICE & PLAY MORE MUSIC, TOO!!!!!!!!

I will toss out there fer your perusal Philbydoode:
for me at least, I have totally given myself over to the belief that
there is a mostly invisible spiritual reality going on all around us at any moment: and if the curtain of the temporal were drawn back even for a moment, I believe I would stand or fall, in awe at what I would then see.

:)
peace all!
Off to a rather large New Years Party

Rich, that is a very Buddhist sentiment! You continually surprise me.

Oh yeah...for the record - I was kidding. I have no hangover, as I didn't get sloshed last night like I wanted to...I'll save it for some other time, when I don't hafta get up & deal with a 3 year old while the rest of the family sleeps!

For some reason, Jace seems to think that I am the guy what hasta get everything started around here all the time, so I'm the guy he goes to, first. I dunno what to do about that...perhaps I'll just enjoy it while it lasts! We have a lot of fun together.

This is why I will never be 100% biblical in my christian beleifs... Too much other spiritual hints in the air...

I capped the night off with Sam Adams Octoberfest, Dewars 12 y/o, more sam adams, more dewars and then a whole bottle of Polka Dot Reisling.

I still have yet to have a hang over in this 36 years I have been tolerated to walk the world.

I gotta say practicing and making more music sounds spot on to me. I think I like my new friends here on Band Mix and will enjoy spending time here.

Most importantly I have yet again found reason to fall in love with my wife and am always thankful for my daughter who manages to make me retain not only my humanity but my humility.

Any man with a teen aged daughter knows about humility...

My daughters are grown women with family of their own.
However my sons are 15 & 16.

That is a most beautiful sentiment about your wife. One that I doubt is fully communicable to any whom have not experienced same for themselves.

Happy New Year you Bastard ...

Folks can say or do what they like, but children are the reason the sun comes up everyday.

Going to become a better person this year, same as I managed to do this past year. No where near perfect... but getting better with age, and the help of my Wife and kids.

#1 I don't think your allowed to do that Mike.
#2 Sub standard TP...yeah that can ruin your day.
#3 I've never liked resolutions. Just can't stick to them. That said I think I will try to drink less this year.
#4 Where'd I put my drink?
