I remember all those late night Slim Whitman commercials! "He had more hits than ELVIS!"

& just lookit at the duckface Andy Kaufman introducing him (Sorry, AK fans - I NEVER got that guy, except when he was on Taxi, which was an excellent show, btw)...

This one, Mike. He was very popular overseas, though virtually unheard of here, until his late night commercials started to air.
Oh! & I should have said he sold more records, NOT that he had more hits. And it's true, believe it or not, or it was at the time...

OK I'll admit it, I remember those irritating Slim Whitman commercials too...and $.19 per gallon gas, pennies that were actually worth a penny, and would buy a piece of gum, The Beatles' first Ed Sullivan show, the first time John Glenn went into space, the day Kennedy was shot...
and lots more from the way back then slice of this life...
And I'm now 55, bald, grey beard, sound like a box of rice crispies when I stand up...hey Phil wanna split a bottle of Geritol with me? Might be a fun party but I warn you, I can't stay up past 9...
OK I was kidding I can stay up as late as I want to...I even make it to 10:30 now and then...

I made the mistake of letting the wife drive the TV last night, Billy. It was an "America's Funniest Home Videos" marathon. UGH! I can only watch so many crotch shots before I lose interest! I fell asleep by 10, & they woke me up just in time to see the ball drop in Times Square. Then I drank the equivalent of a bottle of wine, & went back to sleep.
I am SUCH a party animal!!!!

America's UN-Funniest Home Videos? Oddly, Bob Saget can really be funny when he TRIES to be. His cameo in
Half Baked was f&%ing hilarious. It makes one wonder why he would make trash like
America's Funniest Home Videos.

He hasn't hosted the show in 10 years or more. They got another guy who's even cheesier & sleazier, if that's possible. I can take 2, maybe even 3, shows, back to back, but a marathon is too frikken much for any sane human being to tolerate! (Which explains why my wife can watch 'em ALL in one day! She's nuttier than a fruitcake...)

Anyone who can take ONE episode of that crud should get help quick...
Phill I had some din din, went out and shot a few night pictures of town in the rain, (just a sprinkle mostly) then went back to the house just in time for midnight, and wouldn't ya know it, nobody in our neighborhood did any decent fireworks, I got exactly ONE fireworks shot...it sucked out loud. Last year was excellent, and I didn't have a good camera...this year...dudsville...
Why the hell didn't I stay in town, just a few blocks away...I could see the flashes, somebody over there did some decent ones, but in my neighborhood? NOOOOOO....
Oh yeah...didn't drink a drop.

A furniture building exploded nearby recently. Gas leak. That is about all the fireworks lately.

Ok Phil, I've been obsessing over this song since I first heard it. Today I sat down with my wurlitzer and plunked it out. I'm real close to going out and singing it at the open mic or just recording a down and dirty video piano/vox version. I have the yodeling down and have added a little bit to the melody and some emotional dynamics to the tempo and volume.
I am in love with it. It's my current favorite song. Thanks a mint!!
