Frankenstein Food (does this mean Im paranoid?), and few people care to do anything about it (does this mean Im a 'bleeding heart liberal'?). And those of us who speak against Monsanto, are 'health food freaks'. (Does this comment peg me as 'anti-business'?) And the FDA has no problem with their practices. (Does this mean Im for 'more government involvement'?)

We've been eating Frankenfood for decades. God knows what the sh*t does to us. Maybe that's why kids are maturing faster. Maybe it's part of the reason so many health problems have risen in the last few decades. Michigan has a pretty high rate of birth defects. Pollution? Nuclear power? Frankenfood? All of the above? Who knows?!

The fact is - we are being poisoned, daily, in the name of corporate profit. Aspertame is one of the worst things you can put into your body, & the co's that produce it, & the gov't that approved it, ALL know it.
Frankenfood - your body wasn't designed for it.
Look at vitamin C through a microscope. In its natural form, it actually has the look of a citrus fruit sliced cross-wise, with little sections like an orange or lemon. The man-made stuff looks like a dot. Your EYES can SEE the difference. Do you not think that your body can also tell the difference, & absorb it & use it differently?
Monsanto is designing food that has little to no nutritional value, but is cheap, & easy to grow. Guess who they will be feeding it to - through the WIC program, through economic means, through the public school lunch programs - the poorest among us.
I am no 'bleeding heart liberal,' but this stuff scares the hell out of me.
If you save seed from corn that you grew, & plant it next season, Monsanto has the LEGAL right to examine your crop, even if it is only for your personal use. If it comes from their strain of corn, they can sue you for patent theft. It happens to farmers every year...yet how have farmers lived, for tens of thousands of years? Not like this, they haven't!
Don't EVEN try to tell me that this gov't is of, by, & FOR the ppl, anymore, cuz that is so far from the facts of the matter as to be totally ridiculous, even for the most die-hard flag-wavers among us.
Monsanto & their ilk will continue, & will eventually take the growing of any food out of the hands of the ppl, through force of law. The banks will continue to stifle our means to provide for ourselves. The technologies that are being developed will continue to control our movements, our activities, & our freedoms. The largest companies will continue to put the small businessman out of commission, legally, as the global economy takes a firmer hold upon us. All of this is occurring right in front of our eyes, on a daily basis, with more & more laws & invasive destruction of privacy & corporate delivery of poisons into our bodies & deadly stuffs labelled as "medicine" to handle made-up diseases...until we are all slaves. If you can't see it, keep looking. Sooner or later, it will become clear to you. I hope it's sooner, so that we may band together & at least ATTEMPT to stop it.

I have the gullet of a billy goat, and don't care what I eat. I'm not looking to live forever here. From organic veggies to petroleum based additives...it's all good to me as long as it's tasty!

If it comes from their strain of corn, they can sue you for patent theft.
Heirloom seeds are just that, seeds that have been proven to reproduce the same plant and fruit as the parent.
Hybrid's will not do that consistently, insuring that farmers that use Hybrid seeds come back for more seeds every season. Hybrids are the seeds that can be "patented".
So join with Farmers growing the Heirloom varieties, and stick your finger in Monsanto's eye.
For the last 7 years or so I have been digging deeper into this field of study (no pun intended, but 'll take laughs where I get them) and am amazed at the number of people who are not aware that Seed Manufacturers (the phrase sounds unnatural) control the building blocks of our nation's food industry.
Until we determine that the public's welfare is more important than the rights of a corporation (ala a Capitalistic government) this is the trend our children will face.

You said it, Dewy!
A capitalist society is better than a capitalist gov't by far, & a capitalist society needs a gov't committed to the welfare of its ppl to keep the corporate world from getting total control of us all. That means that the gov't needs to be a separate entity from the corporate world, NOT OWNED by it!
*sigh*
The question remains - what can & should be done? Can we agree on ANYTHING to solve these problems, these threats to our well-being?

I buy local and farmers markets when ever possible. I do not use additives. I have been off soda and fast food for nearly a year now and lost 60 pounds.
So, yeah, I can agree with the frankenfood problem.
