Hello Friends!

I have been involved with a new band, System SOL (alternative rock) for about 5 months and we made a preliminary recording. Its in a room with 2 mics so it maybe substandard quality. Also missing the bass lol.

Anyway, i wanted to throw it out there to see what you musicians may think. Thanks for your time

the song in my bandmix profile is "When I Lie"

Thanks Jimmy. I really like how you recorded your drums on "Slummin". Where you using a multi-track digital recorder?

Thanks mike. I think this new band will have metal elements. We are also trying to incorporate latin rhythms into it. Its work in progress and we are still trying to develop a sound.

Since you're in Chicago, didja ever think of recording @ Electrical Audio? Steve Albini won't give it a "polished" sound. But, he's tops at getting a "live" sound, especially drums. Ironic, since he started out with just a guitar and an old Roland drum machine.

haha Yeah! Our practice space is in the same complex. His studio is across the building on Belmont Street.

Dude, we are only 5 months into the project and played out 1 show.... so our polished sound is elusive at best. The singer just turned 21, and the drummer has never played a live show until now. So we need to work on chops before any real recording. The bass player is I think 45 yrs old but we really like his playing and love his personality more. We maybe doing the college circuit this March and will stop in Ann Arbor. You should come and do stage time with us lol.

I liked the music, but the singer seems to be having a bad day.

Good tune!

Thanks a lot Philby. Yeah our vocalist is needs work. I am transposing the melodies note for note so the vocalist can pitch train with a keyboard or guitar.

I know what you mean.
When I do record it's in a spare bed room with one mike and then come the over dub.
Good Job I like it.

I like it. A rich slightly active bass line would really thicken it up and carry it through the pre/post chorus sections.

Nice Work!

Thanks King! We have the bass line ready and will be recording it along with better vocals. Hopefully, before Christmas time.

Wow thnx Crip! I am glad you took the time to give us a listen... means a lot.

our setlist is mostly Originals, 10 out of 12, 2 covers (Chevelle and Soundgarden).

Do you think this song you listened to sounds modern enough to play on the radio?

I keep thinking to my self that sounds 90's dated.
