Can We Talk About Music Now?

Seriously, I think all this petty drama is de-tracting everybody who usually posts here.

It just makes no sense posting a thread to announce that you will no longer be logging in anymore.

GEEZ, we can talk about certain things without getting over-personal.

I should be getting paid for this.

I keep trying to move on. But, these crybabies won't let it go. Tellingly, it is only the most conservative so-called grown-ups having a tantrum.

This is called a musicians site, your right Kru,we have made it a political forum.
We have made it a place to speak just to hear are heads rattle.
We have made it a den of thieves ,and gossip.
Damn you gotta love it.
You may find the same thing on other social net works, but you ain't gonna have as much fun as I have seemed to have had.
That's what makes the whole damn thing work.
I was able to get my music posted,I've gotten good honest feedback,I've seen some pretty funny and disgusting things here.
So what,It's a good thing and I like it.
Now,about that music,whats new,whats shaking.

MUSIC, yeah we tend to forget about it, that's why we're here, isn't it? I started rehearsing with some new people, two very young guys who are very ambitious and haven't been jaded by the pitfalls of the music business. It's been very refreshing for me not to hear the negativity that I hear from the "experienced" musicians. These young guys actually want to do something with their music other than play at dives for $50. Very much looking forward to 2011, I expect BIG things to happen next year. Optimism is a refreshing thing...

Whenever I said anything about all the non-musical threads, I was always shouted down.
I guess - now that the winds are blowing this way, again, it's safe to say I agree, - without someone attacking me again?
.
Hey - it's not about being thin-skinned or thick skinned.
It's about going to a place that's fun to go to.

.
In my neck of the woods - if there's a loud-mouthed angry drunk causing trouble - he's kicked out of the place so fast that he's lying on the cold ground before he knows what hit him.
.
On the internet - the angry loudmouths can say whatever they want without being physically punched in the mouth.
.
If the moderators here threw out the creeps, then the decent folk wouldn't leave.
.
If a place is populated by a bunch of antagonists who we dislike - why on earth would we want to go there, - instead of the friendly place next door?
.
So -ok, now, by saying that, I've opened myself up to attacks, too . . . we need to have a special room for all the jerks . . . maybe we could call it "The Egress Room."
.
As for music . . .
.
I've been working with a bongo player, lately, who can put most drummers to shame.
And - yeah, he's got a full kit, too. And he knows how to play it, too.
And he's got Congos, and a Djembe, and other stuff.
.
But he brings the congas, and sets them up on a super-solid stand, and he puts more percussion - loud percussion - into a song than most drummers with a full kit.
.
And, also - as I mentioned in the thread that Band-mix saw fit to delete - I've also had a bunch of inquiries from new singers.
. . . looking forward to hearing more harmonies.

Hasn't anybody got something about MUSIC to write about? All this drama has taken over the forum.

Nothing has changed in the way this forum operates in the years I have been here.
Frankly I enjoy ( some ) of the exchange of ideas. Even when I vehemently disagree it is a stimulus for introspection.

Not a lot going on musically in my world worthy of note really. NPI
Things are slow this time of year. We are polishing songs and story-boarding and doing trial film clips for upcoming videos.
No free cash for new equipment, no revelations of technique.
Just work and rehearsals.

When something breaks though.
I'll let you guys know.

#1. it's called General Chat, not music chat.
#2. screw censorship... I don't want ANYBODY deciding what I can view or discuss ANYWHERE.
#3. There just isn't very much music happening for most of us to talk about; our economy is in shambles, therefore the political issues directly affect us musicians in the same way it effects everyone else. Don't talk about and your not doing anything about it!

Yeah, it's General Chat alright. Disorganized, but general.

Actully that's not true.
It's called - and I quote:

General Chat: All users can post to this forum on general music topics.
.
And calling it Censorship: That's a Crock of hooey!
That's a bunch of horse-pucky.

Its just that most folks come to Bandmix to hear about bands.
.
Not politics.
Not God.
Not trolls.
Not arguments.
Not censorship.

MUSIC.
.
You got a problem with that?
.
Jesus H. Christ - give it a rest, already . . . .
.
I had to stop referring musicians and singers to this site when all the name-calling and challenging and angry-troll-type stuff started happening.
.
Being associated with that stuff makes me look bad.
Is that a problem with you?
TS.
If I want to stay and talk about JUST music - I will.
Is that a problem with you?
If the damned moderators didn't keep deleting music threads - you'd hear more about music.
.
And that IS a problem.
.
If you're LOOKING for an argument - talk about politics or religion.
.
Say what you will - but it's undeniable that the arguing about - crap - is driving decent folks away to look for MUSIC SITES.
.
And I don't like seeing the decent folks leave for friendlier sites, leaving all the argument instigators and trolls here to take over band-mix.
.
You got a problem with that, too?

Go to hell, MN. I have better things to do than argue with assholes.

Try using self censorship RM. You don't HAVE to read/respond/argue any thread that your not interested/involved in.

AGAIN there isn't very much going on musically for MANY of us. Isn't that apparent?

What's wrong with musicians having an open dialogue on various topics on an open forum?

If it's not to music or your taste just ignore it. DON'T try to restrict the ones whom are interested!!!

No God ?

Damn, guess I'll have to pull ALL my music down.

Right ... that's going to happen.
