Auspicious Start

It took me two hours to get to work today, average speed 15 mph, thanks to that nasty storm last night. This is normally a 45 min drive. I finally arrived and my PC had been upgraded to 6gb of RAM and a new video card over the weekend. Hooboy I'm flying now! I remember when PC's had 32mb of RAM. Tonight we record, provided everyone makes it to the studio.

My uncle was shop foreman and had to unlock the doors to let everyone in. I rode with him most of the time then. One time going to work took us nearly six hours. The snow was over FOUR FEET high! Most of that time was digging ourselves out of the side streets to get to the main roads. When we FINALLY got on I-275 the radio, ironically, played "Surfin'USA" by the Beach Boys.

They were playing that song at the pats game yesterday too... where the crowd could barely see the field through the snow. :P

I had a Tandy, now in the basement, that has about 1-2 megs of ram. if I remember right. I'm not sure if it is still in working order. It isn't new enough to have a 144 floppy. Those came around way later.

Does anyone remember when hard drives weren't much bigger than that? I also remember the first color monitor. This one, if I remember correctly is pretty much an almost "green & white" monitor.

Nice thing about being older is that you can see the changes in society. "Fred Flintstones" computer made a good type writer in the day. But that was about all. Now peeps pretty much have one in their hands for a good deal of the day. I suppose the next thing is a surgical implant.

Enjoy your newly updated toy. All mine are still prety slow.

Thanks Slacker. I wonder if they think I'll get more done with a faster PC. Not likely lol.

Our recording session was a huge success, we got all four of our new original's basic tracks done. I return Thursday to do some overdubs and then Rasta will return in a week or two to put down his final vocal tracks. Too bad we can't do this for a living, what a blast it is getting new music on tape.
