I often come across musicians who are big fans of Mike Patton...I don't know how many times I've been told what a phenomenal vocalist he is (and I'm not talking about showmanship or lyrics-just actual vocals). I even had a few REALLY good vocalists list him as an influence and try to imitate him.

:?

I don't get it. I think he is good at what he does, but there are hundreds of guys I'd pick over him. What am I missing?

Somebody set me straight please.

I though that was more of Kid Rock's crap. :?

Nuff said about that.

There are a lot of singers that are not "vocalist" ( or is it the other way around.

Musicians seem to look more for or compare too classic vocal styles, where as the general public either like a song or they don't.

Fans of Mike Patton aren't ever really too amazed by what he did in Faith No More as much as his side projects. Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas, Lovage, etc.. His style is always a little morbid, but he does have an incredible vocal range.

Mike Patton's vocals are like nails across a chalkboard to me. Yes, he can sing, but not in any way I like.

I just commited blasphemy to some. It really is a love or hate thing when it comes to his vocals.

Yeah, I really liked "I started a Joke". And he does sound good! Still not completely sold-but I think that has more to do with personal tastes than anything.
