I remember posting a thread here about which tubes to buy. I did some serious looking over and decided to just go with JJ's. Since I'm being cheap, I'm just going to use my current ones until the new tubes are needed.

I wanted to get some NOS(New Old Stock)RCA and GE tubes, but they're like $60 each. Good, but way overpriced.

I'd never pay that much for those. You really don't need NOS power tubes. You wouldn't notice too much difference between them and the JJ's or Winged C tubes.

Power tubes= Response and feel

Preamp tubes= sound

If you're looking to get rid of shrillness or muddiness, swap the pre-tubes first. You'll be amazed how the amp cleans up just from that. NOS pre-tubes are where it's at man.

These are bomb and don't cost all that much.

Thinks for the link bro! Those are not badly priced at all! I better grab those, before some amp junkie buys them all.

I've been playing the same set of tubes Shredd6 sent me a couple of years ago.

Not looking forward to replacing them either. :?

I'm not planning on replacing mine either. It's tempting though, because I know they will sound better.

I have to have an extra set of everything. Having another set of tubes is like having another set of strings.

I have the original tubes that came with my amp. Have come close to swapping them out a couple of times just as a comparison.

Then I chickened out.
