How old is the guy?
Apparently he's the new king of guitar and I never noticed it before.
(Probably because I change the channel immediately when "Waiting on the song to change" comes on. Sorry Paul but that song is just sucky and irritating.)

Anyways... my official 180 on this guy.
Said before that I hated his pop songs and that I didn't get the hype. Didn't feel any soul in his (pop) songs, etc.

I was wrong.
There, I said it.
Sometime in the next twelve months I might say it again.

The meaning of making an old song your own.

"Letting Go" is awsome man.
It could use a revisit to breath some more life into it but
the idea is there.
Light a match and hold it under your ass and do it.
Close your eyes, turn it on, turn it up and hear what needs to be there.

Hate to say I told you so but...

I told you so... :D

I have a strange opinion of Mayer. Some of his songwriting just sucks, but he has a very unique voice and is one of the best younger guitar players I've heard in many years. I can listen to him play all day long...

Love his covers not so much his tunes oh maybe one "Gravity"
Dig his guitar playing, dig your ability to change your mind.

Meh.

There's a whole slew of these singer-songwriter types that I can't actually say suck, but I just can't get behind their music.

Maybe I'm just an old fart. Or maybe I've moved so far off in another direction I can't relate anymore (this definitely would apply to progressive rock, f'rinstance).

I dunno.

I couldn't get through the whole video.

He's a very good player. I just don't like very much of his music.

Well, I have always liked John Meyer. My son also likes him and he has good taste in musicians although he is not one himself. 8)

I didn't always like John Mayer but I do now even though I still can't understand his lyrics. Lots of players do the blues better but he is coming along. I think he is an extraordinary talent that draws people in. He has passion for his music, he works hard at it and the chicks dig him. Bravo John!

I didn't like Bowie in 1971 either. What do I know:)

I wasn't too sure of Bowie, either, at first, cuz this was the very thing I ever heard from him:

Seems to appeal to a very narrow spectrum of people.
Works well for some artist. Not so well for others.
We'll see how that works for him in the long run.

Well, he could always grow his hair out and become a male Joan Baez

Wow, thanks Klugmo.
It does need revisited.
I don't know whether to do it all instrumental or do it as a regular song...
