celebs:Wesley Snipes.
topics:Legal Woes..MIAMI (Reuters) - Actor Wesley Snipes was ordered on Friday to start serving a three-year prison sentence for failing to file income tax returns by a federal judge who rejected the Hollywood star's bid for a new trial.

"The defendant Snipes had a fair trial ... The time has come for the judgment to be enforced," U.S. District Judge Terrell Hodges said in his ruling.

Revoking bail for the 48-year-old star of the "Blade" trilogy, the judge ordered him to report to prison as directed by the U.S. Marshals Service or Bureau of Prisons.

It was not clear when or where Snipes would begin serving his time behind bars, however. His lawyer, Daniel Meachum, has said he would appeal if a new trial was denied.

Meachum told the Orlando Sentinel the ruling was shocking.

"Wesley is very disappointed but staying strong and positive," the newspaper quoted Meachum as saying.

Snipes had already lost his appeal of the prison sentence stemming from his 2008 conviction in Hodges' Ocala, Florida, court on three counts of "willful failure to file tax returns" for 1999 through 2001.

Snipes was found not guilty of five other counts in the high-profile felony tax case.

In seeking a new trial, Meachum had argued that jurors in the original trial were biased and that the prosecution's star witness had his own criminal problems.

At his sentencing, prosecutors said Snipes, a resident of Windermere, Florida, had earned more than $38 million since 1999 but had filed no tax returns or paid any taxes through October 2006.

Although he is best known for his roles in action films, Snipes has also had critical success in comedies like "White Men Can't Jump" in 1992. He played the lead in director Spike Lee's interracial drama "Jungle Fever" in 1991 and also played the jazz saxophonist in Lee's "Mo' Better Blues" in 1990.

Eric Thompson, a supervisor in the U.S. Marshals Service office in Orlando, Florida, said the Bureau of Prisons would notify Snipes and his lawyer of a surrender date.

"He'll probably get it by certified mail," Thompson said.

He declined to say what prison was likely to be selected for Snipes except to say that it would not be in Florida.

A listing for Snipes already posted on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website says his prisoner ID or registration number as 43355-018, his location is "in transit" and his release date is "unknown."

These are the same radical ,progressive , left wing radicals , that want to control every aspect of your life. These are the same people that scream "SOCIAL JUSTICE"!

Oh this must be a black issue. WRONG.
THANK GOD MICHAEL VICK was just able to give the people that went after him the finger. What a great QB. Now thats social justice.

The point is power, any time the forces that be,,, become to powerful,,, true social justice, will always be in question.

I don't.... Daaayyyaam I've been paying my taxes every freakin' work day for 35 years! I can't imagine how much $$ I would've accumulated if I pulled a "Wesley"? Who the fuk does he think he is when everyone else around him pays theirs??... he ain't special! :x Do you remember that first pay check? Do you remember adding it all up that Friday before work and wondering how you were going to allocate your earnings?? Only to find out that a big chunk of it went to good ole Uncle Sam? I got used to it by the 2nd paycheck....Obviously Mr. Snipes never grew up and took on the responsibility of what each and every one of us has to do and now it's time to pay the piper...

In 1968 5% of my pay check was more than enough for the Gov and other crap.
Today 41.6% of my pay check is gone everytime for the same crap.
Within 5 years or less over 50% of your pay checks will be gone.

Give or take 30%

....and there's not a damn thing we can do about it but keep working to pay da bills no matter how much they take out.... Hell....I'm now on a 20% pay reduction for well over a year and, again, nothing in my power to change it as there are no jobs in sight around here that will come anywhere near what I make even with the pay cut! I just go to work every week and still manage to try to put a few bux away... Better than sittin' in the clinker or being out on the street due to foreclosure....

The double standard reigns supreme in America. The peons get jail time. While the politicians misspeak and forget.to pay their taxes. All is well in the end.

Remember reading in your history books about mideval Europe and the castles and the serfs? Castles were usually built on high ground, sometimes near rivers. Nothing moved around them without their exacting a tribute from those attempting to travel nearby. The serfs had to continually cough up money to be "protected" by the occupants of the castle. I guess things really haven't changed much. We're still a bunch of serfs...

Meh, I think a good year and a half will shape him up...IF...they don't give him the star treatment...which I'm sure they will. Your tax dollars go to his time as well.

They won't send him to a civilian prison anyways.

I guess I really just hate the thought of prison in general.

This is where everyone misses the point. EQUAL JUSTICE OR SOCIAL JUSTICE.
One man goes to jail, another is allowed to continue steal.
I am not saying Snipes is right. I am not saying RANGEL is right. Same crime under the laws as written, two different out comes.

While Rangel is screaming about "SOCIAL JUSTICE" he is undermining the very words and foundation of our society, "EQUAL JUSTICE"

Equal justice = fairness in all penalties.
Social justice = the right to legally steal
Social justice = there is a big class difference in our society.
Social justice= GO PLAY WITH YOURSELF, You don't count. Now stfu and sit down or die.
