I love his dynamics, his use of the quick interspersed with the slow, & his overall melodic nature.
Vai is a master, for sure! (At least, imho)

No, I sold my Ibanez !!!
I love Steve Vai, but I can only take him for about one song! That's why I love Eddie, I can listen to him for hours, just seems more human than Vai.

To be fair to Sean, Phil.. Nobody else can.
Usually when I'm personally evaluating guitar players, I have to ask myself "can this person do what the other can do". In this case, I don't see EVH doing that if he practiced it for the next 10-years. And I would have to believe that Vai can accomplish anything EVH can do.
I'll go with the alien in this case. Sean's right, it doesn't seem humanly possible to do some of the stuff Vai does on a guitar.

Ever noticed how freaky his hands are?
(Vais, not Seans)

Yea.. It pisses me off. I wish I had longer fingers. I can't even touch my forefinger to my thumb when I wrap my hand around a guitar neck.
Did you see the comment section in the video?
"I punched my guitar in the face because it couldn't do this." -FlibbidyFleu
HAHAHAHA!!! That's how you feel sometimes.

Vai is good in small doses. He's really at his best as a hired gun for better songwriters.
Kinda cool seeing him with Billy Sheehan again though.

I like Vai, but to be honest...Gilbert is a more rounded player IMHO, and he can do anything that Vai does. Got to meet him back in 1992 when I was in State College playing for Hanover Fist. Hell of a nice guy, yet oddly quiet. Vinnie Moore would be another one that I'd rank right up there as well. Rusty Cooley...too many to mention. Vai has his place, but that's about it.
