GC Drops the Ball

I have been buying gear from Guitar Center for over ten years and up until now they have never let me down. But my recent experience with my new Strat was not so great. Ever since I bought it the pickups have been flaky; the back one was so low voltage that it barely worked. I took it back and they sent it to Guitar Works for warranty work. After it came back it worked worse than before; now the front pickup was f*cked. I took it back again, and the manager of GC said he would personally handle it. So weeks go by and I've heard nothing. I call GW yesterday and they say they sent the guitar back to GC TWO WEEKS ago. I called GC and their attitude was "So?" I let it be known that I was displeased and demanded a follow-up explanation today. We'll see if I get it but I doubt it.

Dang Jimmy I hate to hear that. Ive bought a lot of gear from them myself, no guitars, but two or three things I got from them that messed up within thier warranty period they just gave me another one.

Good Luck

That's what happens when you're company is bought out by Best Buy.

SH¡T...Don't tell me that! I just ordered mine! You DO know that you can return it within 30 days for a full refund??

I don't want a refund, I want the guitar I bought to work right. This is an American made Strat, cost over $1500, you'd think it would be QA'd better.

It's 3pm, no call from the manager at GC. I guess they don't care where I spend my money.

Hope you can work it out to your satisfaction.

I had P/U issues with the last Strat I purchased as well.

No excuse for releasing a product in that condition.

I'll have to think twice before I purchase anything new with FENDER on it.

Sorry to hear that Jimmy sounds like you got one that was assembled at 3 oclock on a Friday. I would take that one back and exchange it for another one! I bought my strat from GC in 97 and have never been happier with any guitar I have ever purchased untill I bought my beautiful Schecter C1 Classic in 2003! 8)

Guitar Center is one of the WORST places to get gear at. I don't even buy picks there!

Big manufacturers like Fender know that it's the only store in town, in lots of places. So, they dump their blems there and hope the suckers...I mean, customers don't catch on. They are the K-Mart of music equipment.

Find yourself a little shop and custom order one. They can send them back until they get a good one.

Cool. Does this mean that for only $300.00 extra the "goon Squad" will come to your house and install some new strings?

I'm shocked to hear that,I thought they had there own in house repair.
That's something to remember I was looking at some "f" holes there.
My son-in-law like Sam Ash pretty well maybe I'll give the a visit.
Thanks Jimmy.
