I would like to hear from those who joined a band or got gigs by using Bandmix. Tell me your story.

Both actually.

It works like this.

Post good profile information, and some examples of your work.
( I have to admit though, when I started using this site I had no work to post )
Use the search function daily or perhaps QOD.
Message anyone whom even looks remotely interesting, and everyone whom has been active in the last two weeks.
Expect a long wait, and about a 20 to 1 contact ratio.

It took months of dedicated searching and messaging for a handful of auditions. But we got our drummer Steve, and our bassist Eric through BandMix . Made contacts with several local musicians that we have played with over the last couple of years. Had them come to our shows and gone to theirs. As well as contacts with people whom have told other people and gotten us an ever increasing frequency of shows in our area.

BandMix is not an end all. But it has been an effective part of our networking campaign.

I've auditioned a number of Bandmixers, did a few gigs with some of them. I've gotten a few auditions but wasn't really interested in those projects. I tend to be too judgemental...

We have gotten one gig through Bandmix. Short hours for long money.

Same as Phil here. I've got people/bands ringing my phone off the hook, but I've never gotten a gig or a band from using this site. Pretty much everyone that I've run across doesn't even know that this site exists...

Yet...as time progresses...I find that the best way to get known/sought after is to get your ass out there and get it done. If you're good...bands will follow...sometimes too many of them.

I did get a series of gigs from BM...that was early on. I've made a few contacts, but nothing solid has come of them, musician-wise.

I use my profile page here at bandmix a lot like some folks use a website. I have songs loaded on my page as well as a brief description of what I am about i.e. what I am looking for, influences, gear list. When I put an add on craigslist or local sites I always list my bandmix profile and direct anyone interested to look up my site here and I have gotten countless jobs with bands and gigs as a result.

I've been contacted by about everyone that even remotely fits in my genre's. Nobody really got me that excited at all. There's just not that many people to choose from, honestly.

I'll keep paying for a couple more months and see what happens. I told myself I was going to contact just about everybody listed in my area. Last ditch effort. I've forked out nearly $100 bucks on this thing.

The last person who contacted me wanted to do something called "E-jamming"? Would have been ok if these guys could keep their timing. Still, it's a little too anti-social for me. I would rather play out than be a recording nerd.

Well so far I've had one reply out of a number of contacts. The player was not what we were looking for but we exchanged a few emails. Still seaching the adds two to three times weekly. Most people don't don't seem to reply. Patience Patience

From searching the adds and checking out the players on the forum I have listened to some good music though...that's a bonus!
