Dad got a new bow. He came home with this tonight.....

My dad is cool! He kills them, drags them out, dresses them, and shares them! Yum! He also loads his own shotgun shells, made his muzzle loader, designed and casts his own hollow tip bullets for his muzzle loader. And he's 78. Here he is this summer...

That's incredible!

Hopefully, much of his self-sufficiency rubbed off?

Kudos to your dad bro! :-)

Well sort of. I am musically self sufficient!
I can make and do and fix a lot of things though. He made that green deer stand in the upper left of the deer pic from street signs about 25 years ago.And the thing the deer is hanging from.

Your dad is a special man. You're lucky to have him. He looks like he could reach 100 years old. I don't know how I ended up a fisherman since my father hates anything to do with fish and he can't swim so he's afraid of the water. I don't hunt but certainly respect anybody who does. If it wasn't for people like your dad among our ancestors we would still be groveling in some mudhole somewhere. Hunters (and fisherman) enabled homo sapiens to spread around the globe. Think how lucky we are to be able to eat and digest the variety of game we do and luckier still that people like your dad provided us with food...Whenever I hear of animal lovers and PITA members bashing hunters I just laugh. God (or evolution) gave us the ability to consume so many different forms of animals and plants.

He sounds like my ex-father-in-law. His idea of my step-son's birthday was to give him a rifle and they went and shot a kangaroo, cut off the balls and gave them to him in jar. Yeah, grandpa, way to go!

i need to get myself a good bow and a hunting license. I'm getting tired of the targets at the range just standing still. :D

I think that you're supposed to dress them, and then drag them out.

But, COOL!
I hope my dad is still going at 78.

My dad's a vietnam vet - former marine radar tech and door gunner/jungle walker.
You didn't want to make him mad, or even approach being disrespectful to my mom in any way when I was growing up.

Ny dad died at 59, from a combo of COPD & the flu. He'd had rheumatic fever as a kid, & couldn't ever really be all that physical. I felt kinda sorry for him.
