I've been seeing this with increasing frequency on BandMix and its frustrating. You see a new addition that looks interesting and then you go to their profile and they don't have ONE BLESSED AUDIO CLIP of what they do in that profile. Guys, music is about sound. This is a musician's networking site, isn't it? Advertising your presence here with no music examples is like applying for a job as a fashion model with no photographs of yourself.
PLEASE upload at least one bit of your music on your profile!
THANK YEWWWWW

Agreed.
These days, it is almost impossible NOT to have a method for reproducing your sound. There are tons of freeware multi-track recorders, some of which are excellent, if you don't have the funds for ProTools, Cakewalk, Cubase, etc... Unless you are logging in from a library, you obviously have a computer with internet access!
Most MP3 players have memo-recording... hell, even cell phones have that, many of which can transfer them back to the computer.
There must be a dozen ways easily, that you could record stuff and upload it.
Need to transfer WAV files or WMA files to MP3's? Shoot me an email and I will gladly forward you plenty of links to a plethora of Freeware music programs, everything from recording and editing software, to file converters and looping software, drum machine software, whatever you need.

You Tube is another great way of sharing music if using a video
or webcam.
Here is an example of an acoustic little jam:

I am unfortunately one of those people/bands that has the new addition without the music. But, our situation was that when we were on our way to a gig the vehicle carrying the guitar equipment got into a wreck and trashed it all... then we lost 3 members... After that gig we were supposed to be going into the studio... but then tragedy struck. So... some people have good excuses... some people don't. We're working on getting the new members to learn the songs, then we'll gig and work on recording. We're down a vocalist right now... so if anyone can help... PLEASE DO!
Btw... good anology Irminsul ^.^, it was entertaining.

I can't........yet.
I am stuck some place hot and sandy at the "invitation" of the US Gov. I have no access to my computers or equipment. It will have to wait until I get home, which will be in about 6 weeks.

I would like to upload some of my songs but my first concern is the copyright on my songs. What is to stop someone with no ethics to "steal" the melody and/or lyrics of my songs? I haven't copyrighted any of my songs yet. If someone could tell me the fastest and cheapest way to do it, I'd appreciate it. I've heard one way is by mailing a cassette/CD of your songs to yourself and then keeping the unopened package as proof that you had recorded it first, but there has to be a better way. Does putting the songs in bandmix make it "copyrighted" in a way? Please let me know.
Also, I need help moving my songs recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder to a PC. I guess I need a card installed on the PC. Anyone have a suggestion (not too steep) which brand/model to use and where to buy it from? Does it come with software? I had tried using the microphone jack of the PC but the quality sucks.
Any inputs regarding the 2 matters would be appreciated. Thanks!
Gerry
